President Zardari Advocates for “Technology Highways” in Meeting with QAU Vice Chancellor

Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of developing “technology highways” to enhance IT infrastructure and educational programs in Pakistan. This initiative aims to provide students with modern skills necessary for thriving in a knowledge economy. He discussed these initiatives during a meeting with Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the meeting focused on expanding access to technology and education through initiatives like providing laptops to students. This effort is intended to bridge the digital divide and better prepare Pakistani students for both national and international job markets. President Zardari highlighted the critical role of education in harnessing Pakistan’s abundant human resources and transforming them into a significant strength through the export of skilled professionals.

During the discussions, Vice Chancellor Akhtar briefed the President on QAU’s educational programs, its role in delivering quality education, and its achievements, including its rank of 315th in global university rankings. He also emphasized the university’s commitment to impactful research and digitalization.

President Zardari called for further improvements in educational quality and student character building. He proposed that top achievers at QAU receive Presidential Awards with cash incentives to foster academic excellence. The President also pledged to support QAU in resolving its financial issues, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure in Pakistan.
