PRCS and UN Representative Discuss Humanitarian Strategies in Geneva

Islamabad, The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Chairman, Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari, recently met with His Excellency Mr. Bilal Ahmed, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations in Geneva, to deliberate on enhancing humanitarian cooperation. The discussions aimed to strengthen efforts in providing relief to vulnerable communities in Pakistan, particularly those affected by recent floods.

According to Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the meeting took place at the Embassy of Pakistan in Geneva and focused on several critical areas, including the Red Crescent’s response to disaster situations, collaboration with global humanitarian organizations, and strategic planning for upcoming international conferences. Chairman Laghari outlined the Red Crescent’s contributions to flood relief efforts and its active role in the preparatory meetings for the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.

Ambassador Bilal Ahmed praised the PRCS for its pivotal role in humanitarian assistance and acknowledged Chairman Laghari’s leadership in pushing forward these initiatives. He assured continued support for the PRCS’s programs designed to alleviate the hardships faced by disaster-stricken families in Pakistan.

Furthermore, the discussions included the Red Crescent’s strategies to engage with international bodies to secure support for ongoing and future humanitarian projects. This interaction also served as a preparatory dialogue for the upcoming international conference, which will address major global challenges like International Humanitarian Law, climate change, and disaster risk reduction.

Chairman Laghari also had the opportunity to leave his impressions in the new visitor book at the embassy, marking the occasion. The meeting underscored the importance of international cooperation in navigating uncertainties and strengthening humanitarian responses at a global scale.
