Karachi, On the martyrdom day of Surahiya Badshah Pir Sibghatullah Rashidi, March 20, the Pasban Democratic Party organized demonstrations in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Tando Adam to honor the freedom movement hero and demand justice for historical grievances. The party called on the British government to officially apologize and compensate the families affected by the Hur massacre. Additionally, there was a call to inquire about the final resting place of Surahiya Badshah, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and remembering the heroes of Pakistan’s struggle for independence.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, Chairman Altaf Shakoor highlighted the significance of incorporating the history of the freedom struggle into the national curriculum, arguing that neglecting such history equates to accepting slavery. Shakoor stressed the need for Pakistani intellectuals, journalists, and politicians to educate the new generation about the sacrifices made by the country’s ancestors, including Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam, and Surahiya Badshah.
The demonstrations also featured calls for making March 20 a public holiday and integrating the history of the Hur Movement into educational materials. Vice Chairman Engineer Irfan Syed and other leaders of the party reiterated the demand for British accountability for past atrocities and emphasized the need to guide the younger generation towards a deeper understanding of their heritage.
