Lahore, The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the awarding of domestic contracts to 11 more women cricketers, bringing the total number of domestic contracted players to 80. This move aims to encourage and support emerging talent in women’s cricket in Pakistan.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, among the new contract recipients, one is an emerging player, while the other ten were selected based on their performances in the Women U19 T20 Tournament in Muridke in September this year. Mr. Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, expressed his delight at this development, stating that these contracts demonstrate PCB’s commitment to nurturing women’s cricket in the country. He emphasized that this initiative marks the beginning of many positive advancements for women’s cricket and assured full support from the management committee.
Tania Mallick, Head of Women’s Cricket, shared her excitement about awarding domestic contracts to these 11 promising players. She noted that the initiative reflects PCB’s dedication to the future of women’s cricket in Pakistan and is a step towards preparing for the next U19 World Cup, marking a new era in the sport.
The 11 players awarded domestic contracts from November 2023 to June 2024 are:
