Karachi: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) President Qazi Zahid Hussain, in a press conference at the central secretariat, declared the party’s active participation in the upcoming General Elections. The party has initiated its electoral campaign, fielding candidates for both national and provincial assembly seats, focusing on comprehensive reforms in the electoral system.
According to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) , The parliamentary board of PAT has been formed, and candidates are instructed to submit their applications for consideration. Senior PAT leaders, including Noorullah Siddiqui, Raja Zahid Mahmood, Mian Rehan Maqbool, Mian Zahid Islam, Arif Chaudhry, Malik Karamat Ali, and Sardar Umar Daraz Khan, were present at the announcement. Over 500 office-holders from central Punjab took their oaths during the event.
Hussain emphasized the need for elections to be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, a responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan. He called for rigorous scrutiny of candidates in accordance with Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan. Hussain expressed PAT’s intent to overhaul the current system, citing failures in education, public health, and justice. He highlighted the unresolved Model Town tragedy and appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan for impartial investigation and justice.
PAT Secretary Information Noorullah Siddiqui condemned recent terrorism incidents and praised the sacrifices of armed forces and law enforcement agencies. He affirmed the nation’s support for these institutions in their ongoing battle against terrorism.
At an organizational convention, Mian Rehan Maqbool, President of PAT Central Punjab, urged the public to reject previously unsuccessful and corrupt politicians. He reiterated the party’s commitment to the vision of its founding leader, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri.
The convention also featured a resolution led by Noorullah Siddiqui, appealing to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to ensure justice for the Model Town tragedy victims and calling for government action against inflation.
