Peshawar and Karachi Whites Eye Glory in Pakistan Cup Final

Rawalpindi: Peshawar and Karachi Whites are set to compete in the final of the Pakistan Cup 2023-24, scheduled for 19 November at Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi. The toss will be held at 0900 PKT, followed by the start of the match at 0930 PKT. The game will be broadcast on PTV Network and live-streamed on ARY ZAP in Pakistan, and on PCB’s YouTube channel for overseas audiences.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Peshawar led the standings table before the semi-finals with 11 points, followed by Karachi Whites and Multan, both at 9 points. FATA was fourth on the table with 8 points. Peshawar, led by Sahibzada Farhan, won their place in the final defeating FATA by 44 runs in the first semi-final. Adil Amin, Peshawar’s top scorer, has hit 279 runs in seven innings. Abbas Afridi, their 23-year-old pacer, is the team’s leading wicket-taker with 12 wickets in six matches.

Karachi Whites secured their spot in the final by defeating Multan by 43 runs (DLS) in the second semi-final. Saim Ayub, a 21-year-old left-handed opening batter, is the tournament’s top scorer with 386 runs. Shan Masood closely follows him with 372 runs. Karachi’s leading wicket-taker is Sohail Khan, with 10 wickets in six matches, followed by Danish Aziz with nine in seven matches.

Karachi Whites’ captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, expressed optimism about their performance in the final and acknowledged Peshawar as a strong competitor. He anticipates a fierce competition in the final. Peshawar captain Sahibzada Farhan shared his confidence in his team’s preparation and the blend of young and senior players in their squad.
