Islamabad, In a concerted effort to address the issues of online conduct and respect for religious sentiments, the National University of Medical Sciences held an awareness seminar on “Youm-e-Tahaffuz Namoos-e-Risalat (PBUH)” on March 15, 2024. The event, mandated by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), drew participation from a diverse group of the university community, including senior faculty members, department heads, and students.
According to National University of Medical Sciences, the seminar featured a series of discussions aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the respect due to religious figures, particularly in the context of social media. Mr. Waheed Rashid from the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities delivered a comprehensive lecture that addressed the dual challenges of maintaining this respect amid the rise of digital platforms and combating derogatory content that could incite hatred or disrespect.
The event emphasized the necessity of promoting responsible online behavior and awareness of the legal and ethical ramifications of hate speech and blasphemy. Through these discussions, the seminar aimed to cultivate a more respectful and conscientious online community.
Dr. Azam Chaudhry, Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities, concluded the seminar with remarks that underscored the importance of these issues within the framework of social responsibility and academic discourse. The seminar represents part of a broader educational initiative to equip students and faculty with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of online communication while upholding respect for all religious beliefs.
