Bahawalpur, The Department of Applied Psychology at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur recently orchestrated a Mental Health Week, emphasizing the significance of mental well-being within the educational community. Kicking off the series of events was Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, with activities spanning from a mental health campaign to the screening of psychological films. Spearheaded by Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Chairman Department of Applied Psychology Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem, and other faculty members, the week-long initiative underscores the university’s dedication to nurturing mental health and cultivating a nurturing campus environment.
According to the press release by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Dr. Amjad Tufail, Associate Professor/Chairman of Applied Psychology at MAO College, Lahore, took the stage on the inaugural day. He emphasized the essential role of research, particularly from a qualitative standpoint, in spotlighting the mental health concerns specific to the Muslim community.
Day two saw the university grounds buzzing with activity as students, faculty, and staff took part in an awareness walk. The participants, armed with placards, charts, and messages, aimed to raise consciousness about the vital nature of mental health. The ensuing day continued the momentum with an array of educational activities orchestrated by the Department of Applied Psychology. These events encompassed the Psych Wall, Theater Time, and a Psychological Assessment Camp. A noteworthy moment was the screening of the film “A Beautiful Mind” in the theater, which garnered substantial attention from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur community.
