Forman Christian College Focuses on Campus Safety with Occupational Health Workshop

Lahore, Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) has emphasized the importance of creating a safe learning environment by hosting an “Occupational Health and Safety” workshop. The event took place on February 22, 2024, with the Department of Environmental Sciences teaming up with the Earth Watch Club to facilitate the program. The workshop was part of an initiative funded by the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan (Global UGRAD-Pakistan), under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State.

According to Forman Christian College, the workshop was made possible through the efforts of Ms. Ameena Haroon, an undergraduate student majoring in Environmental Sciences and a UGRAD alumna, who secured the necessary funding. Industrial expert Mr. Fauz Ul Azeem, the General Manager of Corporate Sustainability and Chemical Management at Interloop Limited, and Maj (R) Kanwal Arune Isaacs, the Health and Safety Officer at FCCU, were the guest speakers.

The workshop aimed to underscore the critical nature of health and safety protocols on campus, extending beyond the workplace to educational settings. It was designed to cultivate a culture of safety and wellbeing, ensuring the FCCU community’s holistic growth. The session emphasized that occupational health and safety are not just compliance matters but also inherent rights.

With the participation of over 130 attendees, including students, faculty, and staff, the event was a significant step towards raising awareness and promoting a shared commitment to safety on campus. The initiative reflects FCCU’s dedication to fostering an educational atmosphere where academic and personal safety is paramount.
