Lahore, The EFAST Scan Workshop, a joint initiative by the Society of Surgeons and Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), successfully equipped medical residents with vital skills in trauma and critically ill surgical patient care. The workshop, held at FJMU, Lahore, was an effort to advance medical education and patient care through practical skill applications.
According to Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore, the workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, the Vice Chancellor of FJMU, as the Chief Guest. The event also witnessed the participation of Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Pro-Vice Chancellor/Chairperson Surgery Department, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson Medicine/Dean Nursing/Director QEC, Prof. Liaqat Ali, and other faculty members and postgraduate residents.
The workshop provided an interactive learning environment through presentations and demonstrations on real patients, particularly those showing positive findings in trauma cases. It was designed to strengthen the diagnostic abilities of senior faculty, residents, and house surgeons from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Sheikh Zaid Hospital, and Jinnah Hospital.
This collaborative event underscores the commitment of both the Society of Surgeons and FJMU to elevate the standard of medical training and enhance the capabilities of healthcare professionals. The workshop’s success was attributed to the support from the Vice Chancellor, Department of Anaesthesia (SGRH), and Surgical Unit-1 (SGRH).
At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates were distributed to the participants, marking their successful completion of this hands-on training in extended focused assessment with sonography for trauma and critically ill surgical patients.
