Karachi, Dow Institute of Health Professional Education at Dow University of Health Sciences has partnered with the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) to offer a certificate training course in Health Professions Education. The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the boardroom of the Vice Chancellor of Dow University. The certificate course is set to commence in August this year.
According to Dow University of Health Sciences, the MoU was signed by Dow University Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq and NICVD Executive Director Prof. Tahir Saghir, with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Nazli Hussain, and several other distinguished guests in attendance. The collaboration aims to provide health professionals with enhanced teaching competencies and improved education standards in healthcare.
Prof. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy highlighted the significance of the Health Professional Education Certificate course, noting that it is now a requirement by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM and DC). He mentioned that the course is designed to empower medical faculty as teachers and to improve the quality of education in the healthcare sector.
Executive Director of NICVD Prof. Tahir Saghir expressed appreciation for the collaboration with Dow Institute of Health Professional Education, acknowledging its excellent reputation in the region. Dr. Farhan Saeed Vakani, Director of Dow Institute of Health Professionals Education, announced the initiation of work for the first batch of the certificate course, consisting of 25 health professionals from NICVD.
This partnership between Dow University and NICVD represents a significant step towards enhancing healthcare education and providing a platform for medical faculty to develop their teaching skills, ultimately leading to improved healthcare services in the region.
