Youm-e-Khudi to be observed on Iqbal Day on April 22 under the auspices of Directorate General of Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab in collaboration with Alhamra Arts Council will observe Youm-e-Khudi on the eve of Iqbal Day at Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra) Mall Road on Friday, April 22, 2022. The competitions and events of Youm-e-Khudi will be conducted from 2.00pm to 11.00pm.

Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani and Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan will also attend Youm-e-Khudi celebrations. Several talented painters will participate in the painting competitions regarding Iqbal’s life and poetry on Youm-e-Khudi. The painting competitions will be conducted from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, in which the winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000, runner-up Rs 20,000 while the third position holder will pocket a cash prize of Rs 10,000.

Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani, Justice (retd) Nasira Javed Iqbal, Senior Journalist Mujibur Rehman Shami, Vice-Chancellor Govt College University Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi and other notable personalities will participate in the panel discussion.

Leading singers Sara Raza Khan and Hina Nasrullah will present Kalam-e-Iqbal while artiste Adeel Hashmi will throw light on Iqbal’s Shikwa and Jawab-e-Shikwa. Moreover, Nadeem Jamal Group will present Qawwali besides some eye-catching performances from students of Punjab University and Alhamra Academy.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan in a statement on Thursday said that Iqbal’s poetry is definitely a great source of motivation for the young generation of the country. “The year 2022 is being celebrated as the ‘Year of Iqbal’. Pakistan can achieve great success on all fronts by following the message of Iqbal”.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan further said that in the present era, it’s the responsibility of parents, teachers and elders to make the young generation aware of Iqbal’s philosophy of khudi (self).

20 male and female painters from various schools, colleges and universities participate in Youm-e-Khudi painting competitions 

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):As many as 20 male and female painters of 12 to 30 years age from various schools, colleges and universities of the province participated in Youm-e-Khudi painting competitions held in connection with Iqbal Day at Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra) Mall Road on Friday.

Allama Iqbal’s famous verse (shaer) ‘Khudi ko ker buland itna ke her taqdeer se pehlay, Khuda banday se khud poochhay bta teri raza kia hai’ was the theme of Youm-e-Khudi painting competitions. It is worth-mentioning that Youm-e-Khudi was observed by Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab in collaboration with Alhamra Arts Council to pay homage to great philosopher of East Dr Allama Iqbal and highlight different features of Iqbal’s life and poetry.

The winner of painting competitions was awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000, runner-up Rs 20,000 while the third position holder got a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan in a statement on Friday appreciated the performance of young male and female painters in Youm-e-Khudi painting competitions. “The talented painters beautifully highlighted different features of Iqbal’s life and poetry through their paintings”.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan further said that Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab will organize more such events to give sufficient opportunities to promising youngsters of the province to express their hidden abilities and talent.

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Directorate General of Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab in collaboration with Alhamra Arts Council will celebrate Youm-e-Khudi to pay homage to Poet of the East Allama Iqbal at Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra) Mall Road, Lahore at 9.00pm on April 22, 2022.

Apart from various attractive performances, a panel discussion will also be conducted in which top intellectuals like Justice (retd) Nasira Iqbal, Senior Journalist Mujibur Rehman Shami, Vice-Chancellor Govt College University Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi and other notable personalities will participate.

Agent registration process for 2022-23 season begins 

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Cricket Board has begun the player agent registration process for the 2022-23 season.

The process allows the new agents to register themselves with the PCB and the existing ones to renew their registrations.

3,822 clubs featured in 7,009 matches in the 2021-22 season 

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Cricket Board’s efforts for the democratisation of the game continued in the 2021-22 season as it provided guidance and assistance to the six Cricket Associations for the growth and promotion of cricket at the grassroots level.

The efforts reaped great benefits for club cricketers with as many as 3,822 club sides across the country playing 7,009 matches.

The six CAs conducted cricket leagues in their respective jurisdictions in the five-month period between October 2021 and February 2022, providing a pathway for the aspiring cricketers to graduate to the apex domestic level and also helping in the unearthing of cricket talent in both urban and rural centers.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, whose talent across all rungs continues to dominate the domestic scene, saw 844 clubs play 1,530 matches from 13 November 2021 to 20 January 2022. Central Punjab and Sindh had the next best number of club participation with 788 and 670 sides playing 1,482 and 1,172 matches, respectively.

In Southern Punjab, 517 clubs played 1,100 matches, while 512 clubs in Balochistan and 491 in Northern featured in 700 and 1,025 games, respectively.

The club cricket leagues in the Balochistan, Central Punjab, Northern, Sindh and Southern Punjab began on 20 October 2021 and finished early this year.

Nadeem Khan, Director – High Performance: “Club cricket acts as a feeder for domestic cricket and it was vital that we created an atmosphere in which our six Cricket Associations were able to maximise cricket at grassroots.

“I want to congratulate the Cricket Associations, who have delivered these matches and have more such activities planned that are in line with the PCB has a vision of helping grassroots cricket grow and flourish. The PCB aims to continue to work closely with the six Cricket Associations so that we can collectively provide maximum playing opportunities to the budding cricketers in an effort to help them achieve their career objectives.”

In the coming months, the PCB will run an independent scrutiny process to further boost the development of the game at the club level.

Separately, extensive work continued to attract schoolchildren towards cricket, as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Central Punjab and Southern Punjab organised school cricket leagues.

Three-hundred school teams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa played 565 matches from 7 October to 8 November last year.

Southern Punjab’s school league saw 184 schools compete in 295 matches from 15 November 2021 till 5 January 2022, while 162 schools in Central Punjab have played 458 matches to date with the two-day league presently ongoing.

Earlier in the month, Dar-e-Arqam Lahore won the Central Punjab Weekend School Championship 2021-22 on the basis of first innings lead in a draw against Divisional Public School Faisalabad at Pakistan’s home of cricket, the Gaddafi Stadium. The final was televised on PTV Sports.

These schools matches were in addition to the 16 U13 and 31 U16 matches, which were organised by the PCB as part of the National U13 and U16 Cups held between 27 January and 7 February.

Cricket Association coaches assessment and season review begins Monday 

Lahore, April 24, 2022 (PPI-OT):Coaches of the six Cricket Associations will undergo a three-day review and assessment process that will conclude with a seminar at the National High Performance Centre, Lahore from Monday.

A total of 24 coaches will undergo the review, these include first and second eleven head and assistant coaches.

On the first two days, coaches will be interviewed individually in 30 minute sessions by a committee which includes NHPC coaches Umar Rasheed, Shahid Mahboob and Sajjad Akbar.

During the interviews the committee will review each of the 24 coaches’ 2021-22 domestic cricket season.

The three-hour long seminar on Wednesday will aim to both review the season while also focusing on the targets for the 2022-23 domestic cricket season. The seminar will be attended by the 24 Cricket Association coaches, NHPC coaches and Director High Performance Nadeem Khan.
