Malakand, At a grand rally in Malakand, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, voiced his concerns over the challenges faced by his party in past elections and criticized the politics of division and hatred practiced by other political leaders. He underscored the sacrifices made by the people of Malakand in defeating terrorism and suffering under selective governance, asserting that the upcoming elections present an opportunity for change.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari recounted the adversities faced by the PPP, including the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto in 2007, restrictions on campaigning in 2013 and 2018, and ongoing threats of terrorism. Despite these challenges, he stood in solidarity with the people of Malakand, highlighting their resilience against terrorism and governance that favored the select few.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari criticized the celebration of political adversaries’ disqualifications, emphasizing that PPP’s ethos, taught by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, is not to rejoice at others’ misfortunes. He pointed out the recurrent politics of hatred and division by leaders like Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif, and warned against Nawaz Sharif’s potential fourth term as Prime Minister, which he believes would perpetuate suffering among the populace.
He proposed the establishment of a truth and reconciliation commission to foster national unity and reconciliation, distancing politics from personal enmity which he views as detrimental to the country’s economy. Highlighting his commitment to the people of Malakand, Bilawal contrasted his approach with other political figures who, As per him, have not sought votes from the people of Malakand.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari pledged to combat terrorism, alleviate the economic crisis, and end the politics of hatred and division. He emphasized the PPP’s focus on pro-poor economic policies, in contrast to the elitist policies of PML-N and PTI. He detailed his ten-point agenda aimed at resource generation and welfare works, calling for support to adopt new thinking and bury traditional politics.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appealed to voters, including those from PML-N and PTI, to choose the PPP in the upcoming elections, warning against the consequences of voting for independent candidates, which could inadvertently support Nawaz Sharif’s return. He criticized the current leadership of PTI as being detrimental to their cause, urging voters to reject the politics of division and support the PPP for a united and prosperous Pakistan.
