Industry Visit Report to CDA-Pakistan 

Lahore, November 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):The department of English organized an industrial visit of students of the Faculty of Languages and Literature (FOLL) to Chanan Development Organization (CDA). Mr. Nohaiz Mehmood-FILO organized this informative Industry visit along with Ms. Sarosh Latif and Ms. Fatimah Urooj. There we were warmly greeted by Mr. Shahzad Khan who is the human rights activist, young leader and the Executive Director of the organization.

Mr. Shahzad Khan started the presentation by giving a comprehensive overview of the vision, objectives and aims of the organization, and how it has been working in diversified areas for the development of youth. They also focused on the practicality of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in classrooms and industry. Based in Lahore, Chanan Development Organization (CDA) is working in 110 districts across Pakistan through its network of 360 youth-led organizations. 15,000 active volunteers and more than 100,000 peer educators across Pakistan.

Training session on “Peace, Tolerance and Inclusivity” held at Turbat University 

Balochistan, November 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):A training session for faculty on “Peace, Tolerance and Inclusivity” was held in the video conference room of the University of Turbat (UOT) on 18th November 2022. The session was organized by Peace Advocacy Club University of Turbat (PACUT) in collaboration with Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness. Shaoor Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working for promotion of peace and education in Pakistan. The training was a part of the series of sessions being held under the Project for Peace Advocacy and Community Engagement through Transformation (PACT) launched by Shaoor Foundation.

The participants of the session discussed the importance of peace, tolerance and inclusivity in human life in general and campus health in particular. The significance of gender-equality was also thoroughly deliberated and the role of women as mother, spouse, sibling, teacher, doctor and so forth was categorical emphasized and acknowledged by the participants. Speaking on the occasion, the trainer of the program and In-charge Peace Advocacy Club UOT, Changiz Ahmed, Assistant Professor Political Science Department, emphasized the significance of diversity and acceptance of differences, whether religious, ethnic or linguistic for a healthy and progressive society.

He further expressed that these differences are to be accepted as a reality and a part of the creation plan of the nature, as people are born with different qualities, thinking and habits. He added that these differences lead towards a more inclusive and tolerant society. The program ended with a vote of thanks to the participants by the trainer.

English Department of Turbat University arranges a farewell program

Balochistan, November 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):A colourful and enthralling farewell program was organized by the Department of English, University of Turbat (UOT) in the honour of its second outgoing batch of BS in English. The presence of an over whelming number of students and faculty members multiplied the beauty of the event.

The hall was festooned with decorative graffiti. Besides, the farewell bash rocked the day for all the party attendees. The talented students of the English Department entertained the audience with melodious songs, inspirational speeches, and comic plays. Furthermore, the students also performed traditional Balochi Dochapi with unmatched skills. The dexterous performance of a variety of segments deeply amused the audience and the performers received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

At the end of the event, Amjed Habib Chairman, Department of English, in his closing remarks advised the students to make laborious and relentless efforts in order to achieve their targets. Dr. Shah Mir Baloch, Assistant Professor delivered a highly motivational speech on the occasion. He stressed the significance and role of critical thinking in human life.

Workshop on “Game Theory Training Program” held at Turbat University 

Balochistan, November 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Turbat (UOT) in collaboration with the Individual land (IL) Pakistan organized a three-day capacity-building workshop on “Game Theory Training (GTT) Program “from the 15th-17th November 2022 at the video conference room, UOT.

Speaking on the occasion, the resource persons of the workshop, Mr. Khoso Saifullah and Mr. Hashim Kakar from Individual land Pakistan said that Individual land Pakistan is a progressive research-based organization working in the development sector which has expertise in delivering skill and capacity building training workshops on soft and technical skills. They added that the areas of expertise include but are not limited to Media Development and Content Development, Monitoring and Evaluation of Youth Development, Peace Building and Community Resilience, and Governance Reform and Capacity Buildings.

Game Theory is basically a concept in various fields of study, especially in the field of economics that what optimal decisions to make in the backdrop of a conflict so that the results of the decision could be beneficial for all the stakeholders in one way or the other.

The training workshop was purely activity based where students were formed into groups and assigned tasks to identify a problem that a common man is facing in a particular region. After identifying the problem, they were asked to make plans to solve the problem using the Game Theory tools and techniques in decision-making.

On this occasion, Dr. Ghulam Jan, Director ORIC thanked Mr. Khoso Saifullah and Mr. Hashim Kakar from IL for conducting such a useful training workshop for the students of UOT and engaging and training them on the practical approaches of the game theory concept which they read during their course of study.

MS student defended his MS dissertation

NOP Team Attends Session at Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College Swabi

Lahore, November 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):In an effort to maximise its outreach and build liaison, the National Outreach Programme (NOP) team attended the first ever Education Connect arranged by the Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College Swabi (KSKCCS) in October 2022. The event was led by the Sherian Alumni Association, with the objective to guide KSKCCS students about future opportunities in different universities across Pakistan. Delegates from top-ranked institutions across Pakistan attended the event to share information about the diverse opportunities in various fields.

The event kicked off with a brief note from the Principal of Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College, Brigadier (R) Wajid, who explained the purpose behind organising such an event. Afterwards the team was guided to the auditorium where they addressed more than 700 cadets. They were given a detailed presentation about LUMS, the NOP, and the opportunities available for talented students through the NOP scholarship. Students were given a comprehensive overview of the Summer Coaching Session application process. A question and answer session was also held where cadets were able to inquire about the admission criteria and the various facilities available at LUMS.

Feedback obtained from the educators and administrators was very positive and they thanked the team for visiting the institution. The Principal stated that students under his tutelage were eager to submit their applications for the NOP Summer Coaching Session (SCS) 2023. Similarly, Abdul Basit, President, Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College Alumni Association, praised the informative nature of the presentation content.

The Principal awarded the NOP team with appreciation shields and certificates, thanking them for participating in the event. Based on established communication built between LUMS and Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College Swabi and its Alumni Association; NOP Centre looks forward to seeing cadets from the college in the upcoming SCS 2023.
