Karachi, The Aga Khan University (AKU) has announced the exceptional achievement of Dr. Zulfiqar A Bhutta, Founding Director of the Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD), and Dr. Jai K. Das, Assistant Director of IGHD and Assistant Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health, being named in the Highly Cited Researchers 2023 list by Clarivate.
According to The Aga Khan University, Dr. Zulfiqar A Bhutta and Dr. Jai Das have been recognized for their significant contributions to Clinical Medicine and Cross-Field Scholarship, respectively. This accolade places them in the top 0.1% of researchers worldwide, Clarivate’s annual tribute, which identifies trailblazing scientists across the globe. Their selection was based on the thorough analysis of 188,500 Highly Cited Papers from 2012 to 2022, published in prestigious journals indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index.
Dr. Jai Das, recognized in the ‘Cross-Field’ category, has demonstrated leadership and academic excellence through his multidisciplinary research. With over 200 international peer-reviewed papers and an H-Index of over 70, his work spans community trials, population-based surveys, and systematic reviews.
Both Dr. Bhutta and Dr. Das have been instrumental in using evidence for policy-making, estimating disease burden, evaluating intervention effectiveness, and enhancing public health research capacity. They have significantly influenced health policies and guidelines globally, including contributions to WHO committees and working groups.
