Aga Khan University Professor Receives Prestigious Neurology Advocacy Award

Karachi, Mohammad Wasay, Professor of Neurology at Aga Khan University, has been awarded the Advocate of the Year Award by the American Academy of Neurology. The award, presented in Colorado, recognizes his significant contributions to global patient and neurology advocacy.

According to The Aga Khan University, Prof Wasay, who also serves as a consultant neurologist specializing in general neurology and stroke, has an extensive background in neural sciences and imaging. His leadership extends beyond the university as he has served as President of the Pakistan Society of Neurology, was recently elected trustee of the World Federation of Neurology, and became a fellow of the World Academy of Science.

The award celebrates Prof Wasay’s leadership and advocacy for patient well-being in neural sciences, a legacy of the late Kenneth M. Viste, Jr., MD, after whom the award is named. During the award acceptance, Prof Wasay expressed gratitude for the support from Aga Khan University, which has enabled him to advance his research and advocacy efforts. Dean of the Medical College at AKU, Dr. Adil Haider, commended Prof Wasay for his impactful contributions to the field.

This accolade adds to Prof Wasay’s collection of awards, including the American Academy of Neurology’s Teachers Recognition Award and Advocacy Leader of the Year Award, among others.
