Perth, Pakistani cricketer Abrar Ahmed has been ruled out of the upcoming first Test match against Australia, scheduled to begin in Perth on 14 December, due to a leg injury sustained during a first-class game against the Prime Minister XI.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Abrar experienced severe pain in his right leg around the knee area during the game, prompting an immediate medical assessment. The initial diagnosis led to an MRI scan being conducted on the same day. The medical team has planned an intervention in Perth on Monday, after which Abrar will start conservative rehabilitation under the team’s medical supervision.
While Abrar Ahmed has not been ruled out of the entire test series, his participation in future matches will depend on further assessments before the second test. This approach is taken to ensure the player’s wellbeing for both the current and future tours.
In response to a request from the team management, the chairman of the selection committee, Wahab Riaz, has approved the addition of off-spinner Sajid Khan to the squad. Sajid Khan is set to travel to Perth as soon as his travel arrangements are finalized.
