Islamabad, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Rector Prof. Dr. Samina Malik recently participated in the annual progress review meeting of the Consortium of Excellence (CCoE), hosted by COMSTECH.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the event was marked by discussions on the role of member institutions in achieving the consortium’s objectives. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, opened the meeting with a presentation outlining the consortium’s achievements. He emphasized the exceptional qualities of member universities from the OIC world, noting their contributions to academic and research excellence recognized both nationally and internationally.
The meeting saw intensive discussions, with heads and representatives of member universities proposing result-oriented recommendations for future programs. A significant decision was the agreement on COMSTECH, as an inter-governmental organization hosted by Pakistan, to utilize the excellence within the OIC region for the benefit of the Ummah’s youth.
Key resolutions included offering courses in healthcare entrepreneurship, blended academic programs in medical sciences, and bolstering inter-university collaboration through scholarships, joint degree programs, and new campus establishments. Additionally, there was consensus on signing a memorandum of action and establishing a consortium focused on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and vaccine development.
Representatives from various notable institutions, including International Islamic University Islamabad, Islamic University of Technology, Bangladesh, TUBITAK, Turkey, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia, and several others from across the OIC member countries, participated in this important meeting.
