University of Haripur Hosts 26th Interdepartmental Bilingual Debate Contest

Haripur, The University of Haripur recently celebrated the intellectual prowess of its students at the 26th Interdepartmental Bilingual Debate Contest, showcasing the critical thinking and oratory skills of its participants.

According to The University of Haripur, the event was organized by the Office of the Provost in collaboration with the Young University Physics Society. It featured 29 students who engaged in heated debates on crucial topics, including “The Role of University Education in Preparing Students for the Workforce” and the Urdu topic “The Limits and Responsibilities of Freedom of Expression”.

In the English debate category, Aimal Khan clinched the first position, followed by Miraj Akhtar and Haleema Bibi. In the Urdu debates, Abu Bakar took home the top prize, with Syed Haseeb and Aleesha finishing second and third, respectively. The Urdu debates were judged by Dr. Attaullah from the IRS Department and Mr. Taimoor Riaz, while the English debates were evaluated by Dr. Muhammad Farooq and Mr. Imdad Ali from the Linguistics Department.

The competition not only highlighted the students’ ability to formulate and articulate compelling arguments but also emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and challenging academic environment. The university expressed pride in hosting such events, underscoring their importance in developing students’ skills and preparing them for future challenges.
