Karachi, Pakistan is targeting a major expansion in its information technology (IT) export sector, aiming for $15 billion in export earnings in the coming years. This ambitious goal will require significant reforms and a focus on supporting local industries, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and startups.
According to Institute of Business Management, Dr. Imran Batada, CTO at IoBM, emphasized the need for strategic initiatives to enhance the local IT industry’s capacity to compete globally. He outlined eight steps critical for improving the IT sector’s performance, including reforms to adopt new trends and give greater preference to local enterprises. Dr. Batada stressed that continuous government support is essential for achieving these goals and making the IT sector more attractive for investment.
The focus on bolstering local industries and startups is seen as a pivotal move to sustain long-term growth and achieve the set export targets, reflecting a comprehensive approach to economic development in Pakistan’s IT sector.
