LUMHS Hosts 14th International Cognitive Behavior Therapy Conference and Wellbeing Symposium

Jamshoro, The 14th International “Cognitive Behavior Therapy” Conference and Wellbeing Symposium opened on May 3, 2024, at Lateef Hall, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), focusing on mental wellness and the critical role of cognitive therapy in addressing global mental health challenges.

According to Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ikram Din Ujjan, Vice Chancellor of LUMHS, highlighted the importance of wellbeing in achieving personal and national growth during the inaugural session. He noted that LUMHS has recently established a Center for Psychosocial and Academic Wellbeing to provide comprehensive mental health services to students, including support, counseling, mentoring, and mental health services.

Dean of Medicine and Allied Sciences at LUMHS, Prof. Moin Ahmad Ansari, emphasized the transformative power of cognitive therapy, describing it as a crucial tool for understanding and healing the human mind. He pointed out that the conference theme, “Navigating the Spectrum: Mental Wellness in a Changing World,” reflects the current focus on adapting mental health strategies to meet contemporary challenges.

The conference has drawn eminent scholars from around the world, including Prof. Dr. Farooq Naeem from Canada, Prof. Firdous Mukhtiar from Malaysia, Dr. Saiqa Naz from the United Kingdom, and Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Afridi and Dr. Mirat Gul from Pakistan, who are sharing their insights on the evolving landscape of cognitive therapy and mental health.
