Lahore, The 6-day Level-1 Coaching Course kicked off at the Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab (ISSP) in Punjab Stadium on Monday, organized by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab. The course welcomed 35 coaches from both public and private sectors, representing various sports federations and associations. The initiative was undertaken on the directives of Director General Sports Punjab, Dr. Asif Tufail, with the opening ceremony attended by Principal ISSP Chand Parveen and Chief Instructor Hafeez Bhatti.
According to Sports Board Punjab, During the first day of the course, Principal ISSP Chand Parveen delivered a lecture on the introduction to sports and the game of hockey. Dr. Naseebullah Khan and Aqib Mehmood provided insights into Fundamental Anatomy and Kinesiology, as well as Nutrition and Performance. They instructed coaches on the role of muscles, bones, human exercise, and physical movement.
Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics at Jinnah Hospital, Dr. Amir Sohail, discussed sports injuries, rehabilitation, and their treatment, emphasizing that injuries are commonplace in the world of sports. The primary aim of the course is to equip coaches and trainers with essential knowledge about sports injuries and their treatment.
Nutrition expert Sara Farooqi shared valuable information on nutrition, types of nutrients, food sources, and ideal dietary intake.
The Level-1 Coaching Course is expected to enhance the skills and knowledge of coaches, ultimately benefiting sports development in the region.
