Lahore, The Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs, Wahab Riaz, has revealed that the Sports Board Punjab is set to host the Rising Punjab Games 2024 at various sports venues within the Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC). The sporting event is scheduled to take place from January 18 to February 2.
According to Sports Board Punjab, In a statement on Monday, Wahab Riaz provided further details about the upcoming event, explaining that it would feature competitions in six different sports disciplines: hockey, volleyball, football, badminton, athletics, and table tennis. The highlight of the games will be the “Rustam-e-Punjab Dangal,” which is set to be staged on January 28. More than 950 players from all divisions of Punjab will participate in over 200 competitions during the 16-day Rising Punjab Games.
Wahab Riaz announced substantial cash prizes of Rs 1.5 crores (Rs 15 million) that will be distributed during the Rising Punjab Games. Each game in the event will offer a prize money of Rs 25 lakh. Additionally, players who demonstrate outstanding performance during the games will receive monthly stipends of Rs 70,000, Rs 50,000, and Rs 30,000 for one year based on their achievements.
The Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports expressed optimism about the potential of emerging players in the Rising Punjab Games to bring pride to the country in the future. He also mentioned that winning players would receive further training through camps supervised by qualified coaches. Furthermore, Sports Board Punjab will facilitate quality education for talented players and host the Annual Sports Calendar competitions annually.
The Rising Punjab Games 2024 aim to promote sports development and nurture emerging talent within the Punjab region.
