Islamia University Representative Discusses Human Rights in Occupied Kashmir in Online Forum

Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Areeba Khan of the Islamia University Bahawalpur participated in an online dialogue focused on human rights issues in Occupied Kashmir. The session, initiated by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, invited various universities to engage in discussions with Ms. Mushaal Hussein Mullik, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Human Rights and Women Empowerment.

According to The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Areeba Khan represented her university at this forum. She briefed Chairman Higher Education Commission Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and Ms. Mullik about the initiatives taken by the Islamia University to address human rights concerns and the Kashmir conflict. Additionally, Dr. Khan proposed the establishment of a social media wing for Kashmir Study Centers and advocated for local and foreign scholarships for Kashmiri students.

The dialogue also highlighted the work of the Kashmir Society operating in Islamia University Bahawalpur under the Directorate of Student Affairs. The event saw the participation of Executive Director Higher Education Commission Professor Dr. Zia Al Qayyum, Islamia University Bahawalpur alumni Zafar Sindhu, and senior officials from various public and private universities.

This session represents a concerted effort by academic institutions and government officials to address the complex issue of human rights in Occupied Kashmir, emphasizing the role of education and communication in raising awareness and finding solutions.
