Gujranwala, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), addressed a workers’ convention in Gujranwala, criticizing the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and advocating for justice and human rights. The speech also highlighted PPP’s ongoing series of conventions across Pakistan.
According to Pakistan People’s Party, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized the importance of the ongoing series of PPP conventions, noting that while ten conventions have been conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the series has just begun in Punjab. He pointed out the significance of the day, as Justice Qazi Faez Isa set the long-awaited hearing for the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Presidential Reference in the Supreme Court. Zardari expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court and Justice Isa for this opportunity to revisit the case of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of the PPP and a key figure in Pakistan’s history.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stressed that justice for Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is not just about rectifying historical wrongs but also about completing his mission. He underscored the PPP’s focus on battling issues like inflation, poverty, and unemployment, rather than engaging in political rivalry. He further added that the PPP’s approach to politics, taught by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, is based on service, not division.
The PPP Chairman detailed the party’s initiatives for various segments of society, including employment creation, expansion of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), building homes for flood victims, and introducing the ‘Mazdoor Card’ for laborers. He also highlighted plans for the youth, including financial assistance, the establishment of Youth Centers, and international employment opportunities.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reiterated the PPP’s commitment to democratic processes and elections, criticizing other political parties for their past actions and emphasizing the need for new political representation that accurately reflects the country’s youth. He concluded by motivating the party workers for a full-fledged campaign, ensuring the party’s preparedness for the upcoming elections, and affirming their readiness to protest for justice if necessary.
