Injury Blow for Pakistan Women’s Cricket as Diana Baig Ruled Out of ODI Series Against New Zealand

Queenstown, In a significant development for Pakistan’s women’s cricket team, right-arm fast bowler Diana Baig has been sidelined from the ongoing One Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand women. The series, which is part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, is scheduled to take place from December 12 to 18 in Queenstown and Christchurch.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the 28-year-old cricketer sustained a finger injury during a practice session. Baig, who injured the index finger of her bowling arm, was immediately rushed to a local hospital for a comprehensive examination, including an X-ray.

The medical assessment confirmed a horizontal fracture in Diana Baig’s index finger. Consequently, she has been declared unfit to participate in the ODI series against the New Zealand team, popularly known as the White Ferns. The PCB medical team is currently overseeing her condition. They will conduct further evaluations to ascertain the severity of Baig’s injury and determine the appropriate treatment plan for her recovery.
