Karachi, The Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the government and law enforcement agencies to take urgent steps to combat the growing problem of illegal drugs in society. According to Pasban Democratic Party, Rafiq Khaskheli of the Pasban Democratic Party highlighted the severe impact of drugs, describing them as a scourge that is consuming the youth like termites. He urged the government and institutions to move beyond rhetoric and take sustainable actions to resolve this crisis. The party also called for the support of civil society and non-governmental organizations in this effort.
Khaskheli provided alarming statistics to underscore the urgency of the situation, noting that there are about 100,000 drug injectors in Sindh and an estimated 570,000 opioid users. The PDP stressed the importance of not only enacting laws to combat drug use but also ensuring their effective enforcement, particularly in and around educational institutions.
