IUB Convenes Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar

BAHAWALPUR, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, through its Directorate of Women Health Care and Maternity Home, held an awareness seminar on breast cancer, directed at female students, faculty, and officers.

According to Islamia University of Bahawalpur, the seminar was presided over by Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Dean Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences. Dr. Anjum emphasized October’s significance as a month for breast cancer awareness, highlighting the importance of education to dispel misconceptions about the condition. Dr. Sheikh Safeena Sidiq, Director Women Health Care and Maternity Home, greeted the attendees and delineated the amenities offered by the Women Health Care and Maternity Home. Expert insights on the urgency of breast cancer awareness were provided by Dr. Farhat-ul-Ann Tayyaba and Dr. Fatima Arshad from Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital. They shared alarming statistics revealing Pakistan as having the highest incidence of breast cancer in Asia. With a rising trend in the 30-40 age bracket, early detection and medical consultation are pivotal for survival. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Samina Ejaz, Associate Professor and Additional Director Women Health Care and Maternity Home. Numerous faculty members, officers, and students graced the event with their presence.
