The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan announces Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim Human Rights Fellowship 

Lahore, January 07, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) is pleased to announce the inaugural Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim Human Rights Fellowship, sponsored by his family. A founding member of HRCP, Justice Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim (1928-2020) remained deeply committed to democratic ideals all his life, and worked tirelessly to secure and advance the constitutional rights of minorities and the under-privileged.

The Human Rights Fellowship Award in his name will honour Justice Ibrahim’s legacy and will continue as an annual competitive grant awarded to support research and scholarship in this field. The HRCP secretariat will shortly announce the application deadline and eligibility criteria.

Dean Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar spoke about the faculty progress 

Bahawalpur, January 07, 2023 (PPI-OT):Dean Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar has said that the establishment of the new faculty is part of the expansion and development of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

The Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences has been established as per the vision of Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob to promote teaching and research in science subjects in the region. He said that the establishment of the Institute of Physics gives the Islamia University of Bahawalpur a unique position in Pakistan.

The institute has 12 departments and the cutting-edge research in the fields of physics will significantly increase the national and international ranking of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He said that admissions for the spring semester are currently underway in the faculty.

These include BS Geography, BS Remote Sensing and GIS, BS Mathematics and BS Physics programs. He said that graduates of these subjects are in great demand in the market and there are employment opportunities for these youth in teaching as well as in industrial and research institutes. Applications for admissions can be made on the university website eportal.iub.edu.pk.

ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup warm-up fixtures announced 

Dubai, January 07, 2023 (PPI-OT):The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the fixtures and venues for the warm-up matches ahead of the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. This historic event will see 16 teams compete in 41 matches between 14 – 29 January 2023 across four venues in Benoni and Potchefstroom.

Participating teams will play two official warm-up matches on 9 and 11 January 2023 in four venues around the Gauteng province, namely, St Stithians College, Steyn City School, Tuks Oval and Hammanskraal Oval.

Braamfischerville was initially earmarked as one of the venues, but wet outfields caused by persistent inclement weather in the province in the last few weeks, resulted in the matches being moved to Steyn City School.

Research activities in the FA and E have a vital role in the country’s agricultural economy, Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil 

Bahawalpur, January 06, 2023 (PPI-OT):Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil has said that according to the vision of Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, research activities in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have been aligned with national aspirations and priorities.

Research activities in the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment have an important role in the country’s agricultural economy. Research on cotton, intercropping of maize and soybeans and establishment of an agro-economic zone through artificial rainfall in Cholistan are some of the most important projects in any university in the country’s history.

He said that agricultural graduates are in high demand at national and international levels and agricultural graduates from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur are honing their skills at national and international level. He said that spring admissions are open and the last date to apply for BSc Agriculture, BSc Forestry, BSc Agri Business, BSc Food and Technology in the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment is January 10, 2023.
