Expatriate businessman calls on CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi 

Lahore, December 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Spain-based expatriate businessman Ch. Abdul Ghaffar Gujjar called on Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at his office and discussed the problems of overseas Pakistanis. The CM stated that he values Pakistanis living abroad with all his heart and assured him of providing every possible facility for investment.

The incumbent government has transformed Punjab into a business-friendly province. The chip manufacturing industry would be promoted in Punjab along with the promotion of technical education facilities to meet the needs of the industrial sector, he added. Abdul Ghaffar termed CM Parvez Elahi a public leader in the true sense who has done great work in a short period of four months. Parvez Elahi’s services for the people will always be remembered, he added.

CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi chairs a meeting and announces to grant Jampur the status of a district

Lahore, December 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi became the voice of the people of Jampur and announced to grant Jampur the status of a district. Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi presided over a high-level meeting at CM office today in which Provincial Minister Raja Basharat, Member National Assembly Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dreshak, Provincial Minister Sardar Mohsin Khan Leghari, MPA Farooq Amanullah Dreshak, Sardar Owais Dreshak, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, Former Assembly Member Mena Leghari, Dildar Cheema and Ali Bahadur Dreshak attended the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Captain (Retd) Asadullah Khan, Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Acting Senior Member Board of Revenue Naveed Shirazi, DC Rajanpur and the concerned officials also attended the meeting while Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Division participated in the meeting via video link. CM while addressing the meeting stated that Dajal and Muhammad Pur will be accorded the status of tehsils of Jampur.

CM maintained that a decision has been made to grant Jampur the status of a district on the long overdue demand of the people. CM vowed to make Jampur best district of Punjab adding that with the formation of a district the problems of the masses will be resolved.

CM highlighted that thousands of employment opportunities will be generated with Jampur becoming a district. The service delivery system will improve in Jampur, Muhammad Pur and Dajal. CM underscored that establishing a university in Jampur is part of our priorities adding that with the setting up of a university in Jampur students especially female students will be provided opportunities to obtain higher education.

CM outlined that Jampur is like Gujrat to him adding that he wants progress and uplift of Jampur from his heart and soul. Member National Assembly Nasrullah Dreshak remarked that we are deeply thankful to CM Parvez Elahi for making announcement to grant Jampur the status of a district.

Nasrullah Dreshak acknowledged that the Chief Minister has resolved the long overdue problem of the people of Jampur. Mohsin Leghari remarked that people of Jampur highly appreciates the decision of CM Parvez Elahi to grant Jampur the status of a district.

In his statement, the PPP chairman said that Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known mononymously as Pelé, has had a profound impact on the popularity of the game of football around the globe.

He said that on the death of Pele, football fans all over the world are in a state of mourning in Pakistan, especially in Sindh, including Lyari in Karachi. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari sympathized with the fans of Pele around the world as well as the people of Lyari. He said that Pele gave new glory to the game of football, and the world shall always remember this great player.

Karachi, December 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):President of Pakistan People’s Party Karachi and Minister of Labour Sindh Saeed Ghani has appealed to the Chief Minister of Sindh to hold local body elections in Karachi Division on January 15. In an ongoing statement, Karachi Division President and Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani has said that due to the repeated postponement of the municipal elections, the citizens of Karachi and the party workers are deeply disappointed and if the municipal elections are not held on January 15, the citizens will Once again there will be severe disappointment.

Saeed Ghani has appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah not to write any letter to the Election Commission to further delay the local body elections. He has further said that the agreement reached between MQM and PPP to make the local government system effective has reached agreement on most of the issues, so there is no justification for further Saeed Ghani has said that postponement of the elections.

Minorities in Pakistan are much safer and secure than their counterparts in India -Spokesman Bilawal House and Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister for Human Rights Surendar Valasai 

Karachi, December 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Spokesman Bilawal House and Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister for Human Rights Surendar Valasai has strongly criticized the spokesman of Indian External Affairs Ministry for his remarks about safety of minorities in Pakistan.

“Minorities in Pakistan are much safer and secure than their counterparts in India,” he said in a rejoinder. Surendar Valasai stressed that Modi government should stop atrocities against Muslims, Dalits, Christians and Kashmiris instead of poking its nose in our internal matters.

He said FIR has already been registered in the brutal murder of Daya Bheel under anti-terrorism laws and investigations are moving ahead scientifically by able officers of Sindh Police and the real culprits will soon be in the clutches of law. Even Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had taken notice of this gory incident and directed Sindh government for swift action against those involved, he added.

Pakistan Cup semi-finals to be played over the weekend

Karachi, December 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will aim to complete a hat-trick of Pakistan Cup final appearances when they will take on defending champions Balochistan in the second semi-final on Sunday, 1 January, at the State Bank Sports Complex.

However, in the first semi-final on Saturday at the State Bank Sports Complex will be a Punjab Derby when 2020-21 finalists and table-toppers Central Punjab will take on fourth-placed Southern Punjab. Both the semi-finals will be live-streamed on the PCB YouTube Channel.

Southern Punjab, who were at the bottom of the table after the ninth and penultimate round, sneaked into the last four stage ahead of Sindh on net run-rate after defeating Northern by eight wickets. Mohammad Umair (four for 19) and Sharoon Siraj (three for 32) shared seven wickets between them to bowl Northern out for a modest 120, which Southern Punjab batters Mohammad Shehzad (60 not out) and Sharoon (37) chased down in 15.1 overs.

In the double round-robin league matches, Central Punjab won the opener by 25 runs before Southern Punjab drew level with a 97-run victory.

Central Punjab’s Tayyab Tahir (444 runs at 44.4) and Qasim Akram (396 at 44) and Ahmed Shehzad (361 at 45) have been the leading run-getters, while bowling honours have been shared between Usama Mir (22), Aamer Yamin (13) and Zafar Gohar (10).

In contrast, Southern Punjab’s Usman Salahuddin has been their lead run-getter with 339 runs at 48.4, while Arafat Minhas (291) and Zain Abbas (254) have been the other notable contributors. Amongst the wicket-takers, Hassan Khan is the pick of their bowler with 14, followed by Mohammad Ilyas (11) and Faisal Akram (10).

Sunday’s semi-final will be a repeat of the 2021-22 final when Balochistan defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by eight wickets. In the ongoing competition, it is 1-all between the two sides with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa winning by six wickets and Balochistan clinching the repeat match by seven wickets.

Balochistan’s Haseebullah is the leading run-getter of the Pakistan Cup with 504 runs at 50.4 with two centuries and three half-centuries. He is followed by Imran Butt (367) and Amad Butt (331), while wickets have been shared between Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Junaid (16 each) and Amad Butt and Yasir Shah (14 each).

For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kamran Ghulam has been their most successful batter with 435 runs, while Waqar Ahmed (375), Sahibzada Farhan (189) and Khushdil Shah (186) have been useful contributions. Ihsanullah with 24 wickets has been their star bowler, followed by Mohammad Amir Khan (11) and Sajid Khan (nine).

Players who have been named amongst 24 probable for the New Zealand ODIs based on their Pakistan Cup performances, will continue to feature in the semi-finals and final. These players are: Aamer Jamal (Northern), Fakhar Zaman (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Haris Sohail (Balochistan), Ihsanullah (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Mohammad Haris (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Naseem Shah (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Qasim Akram (Central Punjab) and Tayyab Tahir (Central Punjab)
