Department of Psychology Held Workshop on Time Management 

Islamabad, December 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Psychology organized two workshops on time management for its 7th and 8th-semester students. The resource person Dr. Sabahat Haqqani, HoD Psychology, equipped students with time management skills by helping them understand what time management is, how it can be operationalized and what are different components of time management.

Students were also provided with an opportunity for self-assessment of their time management, hands-on experience in setting SMART goals, and understanding how long and short-term goals can be achieved through time management. Learning skills through play was also enhanced.

At the end of the workshop, feedback was taken from the participants and they were informed that an e-certificate of attendance will be awarded to those who attended the workshop. The Department of Psychology plans to organize more events of this kind in the future.

Engineer Professor Dr. Muhammad Amjad has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, IUB 

Bahawalpur, December 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Engineer Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob Vice Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar Pro Vice Chancellor, Deans, faculty members and students have congratulated Engineer Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad on being appointed Dean of Faculty of Engineering. In this regard, a notification was issued by the Governor’s office today.

The Vice-Chancellor said that Engineer Professor Dr. Muhammad Amjad is an able and respected teacher and researcher. The Vice-Chancellor further said that in the last few years, the College of Engineering has shown outstanding performance in all fields.

The Pakistan Engineering Council has also appreciated the performance of the Faculty of Engineering and the high quality of teaching and research in all disciplines. The Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that Engineer Professor Dr. Muhammad Amjad will continue to work with the same spirit for the development of the Faculty of Engineering and the welfare of students.

Research activities at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur were integrated with national economy, Director NCBI 

Bahawalpur, December 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Bandisha, Director of National Cotton Breeding Institute Islamia University Bahawalpur has said that according to the vision of Vice Chancellor Engineer Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob, research activities in Islamia University Bahawalpur have been integrated with national economy and social prosperity.

According to the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor, the research activities are compatible with the social and economic development of Wattan e Aziz, especially Bahawalpur region. In this context, National Cotton Breeding Institute was established in Islamia University Bahawalpur. Bahawalpur is an agricultural region and majority of the local population is engaged in agriculture.

Pakistan’s economy is also dependent on agriculture and the textile industry plays a key role in this regard. Islamia University Bahawalpur-based cotton varieties are effective and successful in increasing yield through environmental changes and various diseases, insect attacks and weed eradication. Cotton the varieties also have excellent results in high temperature and water scarcity.

For the first time in the history of Islamia University Bahawalpur, through the National Cotton Breeding Institute, partnership with private institutions has started and marketing of cotton varieties has been started. With this initiative, Islamia University Bahawalpur has taken a step towards the goal of self-sufficiency by selling its cotton seeds.

On the other hand, local farmers also got the opportunity to benefit directly from the research conducted by the university. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Bandisha said that he is grateful to Vice Chancellor Eng. Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob for making Islamia University Bahawalpur a fourth generation university, patronizing and encouraging university scientists and working for the prosperity of the farming community.

Nominees for the ICC Awards 2022 announced ahead of global vote 

Dubai, December 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Following three days of announcements on official channels, the International Cricket Council (ICC) have unveiled the full list of players shortlisted for the ICC Awards 2022, highlighting the star performers from across the men’s and women’s game during a blockbuster year of cricket.

The ICC Awards 2022 will comprise a total of 13 categories, and the shortlists have revealed the names thrown forward for voting in format-specific categories, as well as the overall categories – the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year, and the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year.

Voting is set to commence next week where global cricket fans will have the chance to submit their votes alongside a specialist ICC Voting Academy comprising prominent cricket media representatives to determine the 2022 winners.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza and New Zealand paceman Tim Southee are all nominated in the running for the coveted Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy which celebrates the overall best performing men’s cricketer. These three are named alongside England’s Ben Stokes, who seeks to claim the prize for the second time after his maiden win in 2019.

The nominations for the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy features some of the biggest names in the women’s game. Amelia Kerr of New Zealand, Beth Mooney of Australia and Nat Sciver of England all enjoyed remarkable form in 2022, and they are joined on the shortlist by India’s Smriti Mandhana who could become the first ever back-to-back winner in this category.

Among the other names in contention to defend their prizes from 2021, Pakistan duo Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are shortlisted in the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year and ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year categories respectively.

Elsewhere, the Players of the Tournament from the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup are recognised with Alyssa Healy shortlisted in the Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year category following a record-breaking campaign, and Sam Curran nominated for the Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year thanks to his heroics in England’s surge to the trophy.

Shortlists for these categories were determined by a specialist panel of cricket writers and broadcasters, identifying the nominees based on statistics and overall achievements in international cricket through the calendar year.

ICC Men’s and Women’s Associate Cricketers of the Year will also be announced from the action in 2022. These categories will not feature shortlists and will be determined solely by the ICC Voting Academy.

The final categories that comprise the ICC Awards 2022 are the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award, and the ICC Umpire of the Year Award.

The ICC Spirit of Cricket Award acknowledges an action, moment, gesture, or decision on the field of play in international cricket during the year which best reflects the Spirit of Cricket, with the winning entry selected by the ICC.

The ICC Umpire of the Year Award celebrates the outstanding umpire from the calendar year, and is determined by votes collected from the Emirates Elite Panel of Match Referees, as well as playing captains from ICC Full Member nations.

Voting

Voting in the ICC Awards 2022 will commence next week where the ICC Voting Academy will submit their selections alongside global cricket fans, who will once again be encouraged to vote at icc-cricket.com for their winners.

Results of the ICC Voting Academy selections and the fans’ vote will be combined to determine the winner in each of the shortlisted categories.

In addition to the individual awards, five ICC Teams of the Year will be also decided by the ICC Voting Academy, identifying the standout XIs from the international stage in men’s and women’s cricket.

Following the conclusion of the voting period, winners of the ICC Awards 2022 will be announced later in January 2023.
