TTA hosts Dr. Afia to share insights into “Teaching Excellence”

Lahore, September 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):On September 19th, 2022, the Teacher Training Academy (TTA) at the University of Lahore (UOL) arranged a training session on “Teaching Excellence”. Dr. Afia Khalid (Assistant Professor, LBS) was the facilitator of the training.

During the training session, she highlighted the importance of gaining excellence in teaching and its important aspects. The fundamental knowledge gained during the session equipped the participants with skills that are considered necessary to improve the level of effective teaching. Additionally, she conversed regarding equity and well-being in education, which are the primary steps toward efficient teaching.

NETRONIX Intra GIK event SNP 

Swabi, September 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):NETRONIX Society under the Student Affairs Department organized an Intra GIK Event called SNP on 23rd, 24th, 25th September 2022 at GIK Institute. More than 200 students participated in a 3 day Intra GIK event, who were given different time slot to properly manage the event. NETRONIX is majorly known for invigorating gaming events like Uber Game-X.

SNP is an intra GIK event for the students of GIK Institute giving them a chance to explore the realm of gaming. The participants were indulged in a weekend of intensive gaming. The games included Valorant – CSGO – Tekken – FIFA 22 – PUBG – Free Fire – Need for Speed – Blur – COD 4 – Mortal Kombat

NETRONIX Society also works as the hostel network administrators, A session of Networking Basics was also organized to familiarize the students with the basic networking skills and cloud computing. The students were given a lecture on DC++ and the working of the LAN connections in GIK Institute.

World Heart Day – September 29

Karachi, September 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):‘Heart attack’, ‘heart disease’, ‘heart failure’ – all are commonly used words in Pakistani households. The reason is heart disease is the second biggest cause of death in Pakistan making preventing heart disease an important healthcare priority.

This is the reason, while globally September 29th is celebrated as World Hearth Day, the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), Pakistan, celebrates the whole month of September as “Heart Month” – bringing focus on creating awareness about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

Preventing Heart Disease

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle goes a long way in mitigating heart diseases and ensuring you continue to lead a healthy life without any heart complications. Commit to the below for a healthy heart:

Eat a healthy diet including fruits and vegetable, whole grains and lean proteins.

Exercise at least 3-4 times a week with a combination of strength training, cardio and stretching exercises.

Control your weight. Being overweight or obese significantly increases the likelihood of cardiac diseases and disorders.

Quit smoking and avoid tobacco consumption.

Regularly consult your doctor to mitigate any potential risks and timely diagnosis.

While a heart attack can occur at any given time, there are some symptoms that should alert you to go see a doctors. These include:

Chest pain or fluttering, tightness or pressure in the chest or discomfort in the chest

Shortness of breath

Pain in the neck, jaw or throat

Pain in the upper belly or back

Pain, numbness or weakness in your limbs

Dizziness or lightheadedness

Fainting

Slow or fast heartbeat

Constant fatigue or getting tired too quickly

82nd meeting of academic council held at IIUI 

Islamabad, September 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):The 82nd meeting of Academic Council of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) was held at the New Campus of the University Islamabad on Thursday. The meeting was chaired Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, and IIUI. External members including Ms. Razina Alam Khan (Ex-Senator, Senate of Pakistan) and Prof. Dr. Azra Khanum (Visiting Faculty, University Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, PMAS-Arid, Agriculture University, Rawalpindi) also attended the meeting.
