HEC has approved the launch of MS Finance and Investment Program at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur, July 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Higher Education Commission has approved the launch of MS Finance and Investment Program at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. In this regard, the Higher Education Commission has issued a special notification and has appointed Dr. Amna Noor, Assistant Professor and Dr. Syed Zain ul Abadin, Assistant Professor for this purpose. Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob has congratulated Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences and Commerce, Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, Director, Advanced Studies and Research Board and faculty members on this achievement.

Former Mayor Bahawalpur Aqeel Najam Hashmi called on Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob 

Bahawalpur, July 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Former Mayor Bahawalpur Aqeel Najam Hashmi called on Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob. He said that the role of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is very important in the educational, social and economic development of Bahawalpur city. In the last three years, the number of students at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has increased from 13,500 to close to 60,000, which has boosted business activities in the city.

After graduating from the university, they are playing a significant role as active citizens in various fields, which is very important for the development of the region. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Registrar Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil, Dean Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum and Member Selection Board Dr. Mazhar Saeed were also present on the occasion.

Indonesian Consul General visits AKU campus 

Karachi, July 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Dr June Kuncoro Hadiningrat visited the Aga Khan University campus in Karachi. During the conversations with AKU President Dr Sulaiman Shahabuddin; ​Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer Shagufta Hassan; ​​​​and other University leaders, he talked about Indonesia’s longstanding relationships with Pakistan.

“Being a university with facilities in six countries and its programmes accredited by prestigious international bodies, AKU provides great opportunities for international students and exchange programmes,” said the Consul General.

“At AKU, a transparent merit-based admissions process and generous financial assistance ensure that a diverse group of high caliber students are able to attend a variety of programmes in medicine, nursing and midwifery, teacher education and leadership, journalism and communications, and Muslim cultures and civilizations. While we are selective in the students we accept, we do not discriminate on faith, gender or national origin. Up to 75 per cent of students receive financial aid or tuition remission,” said AKU President Dr Shahabuddin.

Talking about the University’s contributions and social impact, he said that AKU’s mission is to improve the quality of life in the developing world and beyond, through world-class teaching, relevant research and quality health care for all. “Being a not-for-profit institution, all resources generated by the University and its seven hospitals and 340 medical centers are invested back in education and research, and in helping over two million patients annually and improving healthcare,” he added.

The Indonesian Consul General showed his keen interest in AKU’s Centre for Innovation in Medical Education, a state-of-the-art facility for simulation-based learning for health professionals, and the Sports and Rehabilitation Centre for patients, students and staff.

2 in 5 (42%) Pakistanis reported having more political discussions at family gatherings on Eid this year compared to last year: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan 

Islamabad, July 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 2 in 5 (42%) Pakistanis reported having more political discussions at family gatherings on Eid this year compared to last year.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the country was presented with the following statement, “Compared to last year, what was the level of discussion on politics this year at Eid?” In response to this statement, 42% said more discussion than last Eid, 30% said less discussion than last Eid, 25% said the usual amount of discussion happened, and 3% did not know or gave no reply.

Informative session about ORIC

Karachi, July 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):An informative session about ORIC was successfully conducted by ORIC-DSU. Respected Deans of Management and Social Sciences Dr. Bashir Ahmad and Dean of Engineering and Applied Sciences Dr. Johar Farooqi were present. HODs, faculty members and researchers from different departments also attended the session.

Dr. Ahmad Hussain briefed the participants about the functions and responsibilities of ORIC and highlighted the ways in which ORIC can help the researchers in administrative functions and help them win research funding. Department of English Arranged an Inaugural Ceremony of SPELL Magazine 

Islamabad, July 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of English arranged an inaugural ceremony to launch SPELL Magazine on July 04, 2022. SPELL Magazine (Students’ Panel of English Literature and Linguistics) is a platform provided by the Department of English for the students to showcase their thoughts and talents in the form of essays, short stories, poems and quotations.

A number of students from various departments of the university made their contribution in making this magazine a success. Dr. Arshad Hassan, Dean, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, appreciated the faculty members and students for making this possible in a very short span of time. At the end, students who performed well in different academic and co-curricular activities were awarded with appreciation certificates.
