UOL appreciated for drug reduction efforts 

Lahore, June 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) recently organized an Annual Award Distribution Ceremony-2022 for Educational Institutions that are actively participating in the field of Drug Demand Reduction. Prof. Dr. Syed Amir Gillani (Dean, Allied Health Sciences, University of Lahore) represented UOL and was among speakers of this event. Dr. Gillani highlighted the commitment of UOL towards the elimination of drugs among the youth and applauded the continued support of DATH.

Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri (Vice Chancellor of the National College of Arts NCA), Mr. Asim Jasra (Operations Commander of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority), and Mr. Muhammad Ayub (Senior Advisor of the Colombo Plan) officiated as chief guests. The recent state of drug addiction in Lahore was highlighted by Mr. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain (Consultant, Anti-Drugs/Narcotics Campaign) during the ceremony.

6th Board of Studies meeting of English Department held 

Turbat, June 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of English, University of Turbat (UoT) conducted its 6th Board of Studies meeting on 27th June 2022. to discuss and approve the plan of study for M.Phil. English Literature and M.Phil. Linguistics. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mehwish Malghani, Chairperson of English department, MCKRU, Sibbi and attended by Amjed Habib, Chairman Department of English, UoT, Dr. Shah Mir Baloch, and external member Miss Hooras Sabzal, lecture Govt. Girls Degree College Turbat. Dr. Adnan Riaz and Mr. Mazhar Gichki joined the meeting through the zoom session.

A comprehensive and in-depth discussion took place to assess the various agenda items. The members of the Board shared their valuable insight and suggestion regarding the scheme of studies for M.Phil. English literature and linguistics. After a detailed discussion, the board approved the course of studies for M.Phil. English Literature and Linguistics. In the end, on behalf of Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, VC UoT, Mr. Amjed Habib, expressed his gratitude to the august members for their presence in the meeting.

ECAT Registration Deadline Extended up to July 07, 2022 

Lahore, June 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has extended the last date for online registration of UET Entry Test (ECAT-22), for admissions in B.Sc. Engineering and B.Sc. Engineering Technology programs across Punjab, till July 07, 2022. Tokens are available, on payment of Rs. 1500/-, at designated HBL branches or by paying the registration fee online, until July 07, 2022.

All Pakistani students who have passed or are taking the Intermediate exams can take the ECAT. However, candidates who do not appear in the entrance test will not be eligible for admission in the undergraduate engineering program of any public-sector institution.

Chitral, June 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Project entitled “Promoting Education for Sustainable Mountain Development through Curriculum Enrichment and Capacity Building” has been approved. The project is monitored by the United States Educational Foundation (USEFP) under the US-Pakistan University Partnerships Grants Program, funded by the United States Government.

Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Chitral acknowledged the efforts of the Directorate of ORIC and termed it a big achievement. This Project will help to enrich and enhance the standard of research in the University of Chitral. Dr. Muhammad Romman, Deputy Director ORIC, University of Chitral, and the focal person of this project requested for submission of research proposals from the academicians of the University of Chitral.

EMC, Economics Department, State Bank jointly organize Financial Literacy Program 

Lahore, June 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Financial Literacy Program for Youth was conducted by the Event Management Cell (EMC) and the Department of Economics on June 22, 2022, with assistance from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf (Rector UOL) was the chief guest of the event that was aimed at providing a learning opportunity about financial markets, financial products and services, financial institutions, and internship opportunities for the UOL students. In order to educate students about financial products and services, the SBP, along with other banks like Bank Alfalah, Allied Bank Pvt. Ltd., Habib Bank Limited, NRSP Micro Financing, and Mobilink Jazz Cash, set up their kiosks at UOL.

Mock Panel Interviews on 24th June, 2022 

Karachi, June 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Under the supervision of Ms. Tehseen Azhar – Director of Alumni Relations and Senior Lecturer (MS), a Mock Panel Interviews session was organized at DSU on Friday, June 24th, 2022, the session was exclusively for the students of the Professional Development course (BBA VII).

The panellists for the session were Mr. Tabish Azmat – GM HR and Admin – Lucky Group, Ms. Wajeeha Khan – Head of HR and Admin – Matco Foods Ltd., Mr. Talha Malik – Manager Supply Chain – Midas Safety, Mr. Muhammad Asad Iqbal – Head of HR Strategy and Digitalization – Gerry’s dnata, Ms. Hafsa Naeem – Enterprise Sales Leader – HashMove and Mr. Maaz Mustafa Kamal – HR Consultant.

The objective of these mock panel interviews was to offer graduating students a simulation of actual job interviews and provide them immediate constructive feedback. The panellists put them in real-life scenarios and asked how they would tackle/resolve those particular issues. Provided a glimpse of what the recruiters look for in a particular candidate of their chosen field, how they can improve their profile to stand out from the crowd and how they can ace the interviews to get their preferred jobs. The session was attended by 36 final year students of the MS Department.
