IoBM and Aspin Pharma Collaboration

Karachi, June 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):Aspin Pharma (Pvt.) Limited and the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), recently entered into a collaboration and signed a Project Deployment Agreement to strengthen Industry-Academia collaboration. According to this collaboration, IoBM will offer services including design, development and implementation along with knowledge transfer and training to Aspin staff, Dr. Imran Batada will act as the Lead Consultant for this project.

Present at the signing ceremony representing IoBM were: Mr. Talib Karim; President; Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro; Rector; Dr. Samra Javed; Head of ORIC; and Mr. Asim Farooq; Head of IT and representation from Aspin were: Mr. Simon Francis; Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Omer Bin Asad; Associate Director BI and Value Creation and Mr. Mudassir Altaf; Head of Business Development. During the discussion, IoBM and Aspin Pharma explored new avenues for collaboration and further discussed to strengthen the Industry-Academia linkages.

Poster Presentation Event held at IEECE

Lahore, June 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):Society of Engineering Excellence (SEE) organized poster presentation event at the Institute of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering (IEECE), University of the Punjab Lahore on May 25, 2022. The theme of the poster presentation was “Modeling Real-Life Processes Using Logic Design Concept”. Second year students of IEECE participated in the event. They modeled a variety of processes using state machines including but not limited to business models, sustainable systems, biological systems, COVID-19, transportation systems, and others. Prof. Dr. Azhar Naeem, Director IEECE, was the Chief Guest of the event while Dr. Umar Farooq, Patron SEE, was the chief organizer of the event.

Event started at 8:45am and Chief Guest listened to all the poster presentations and encouraged the students for doing a wonderful work. A total of five independent judges evaluated the students’ work against five markers and their evaluations were averaged to generate the poster competition result. Prof. Dr. Kamran Abid (IEECE), Dr. Shareen Shafique (Physics), Dr. Zeeshan Azmat (IEECE), Dr. Kamal Shahid (IEECE), and Engr. Muhammad Arif Anwar (China) performed duties as Judges. Saad Ullah Bhatti bagged first position for his work on blood glucose monitoring.

Ali Tahir secured second position for his work on climate change, while Arsh Alam secured third position for her work on car washing system. Souvenirs were distributed by the Chief Guest amongst Judges, and winners of the poster event. All the volunteers and participants of the poster event were also awarded with certificates. In addition, Patron SEE presented a memento to the Chief Guest. Event was concluded with the closing remarks from Patron SEE, Chief Guest and student Advisor of IEECE. In his final remarks, Chief Guest ensured his continuous support for such cocurricular activities in the future.

IoBM organized the BBSHRRDB Symposium 2022

Karachi, June 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):Recently, IoBM with the support of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Human Resource Research and Development Board (BBSHRRDB) trained over 200 underprivileged youth in different courses such as Social Media Marketing, Graphic Designing, E-Commerce, and CIT. IoBM organized a final symposium ceremony on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Present at this occasion were Mr. Talib Karim, President IoBM; Ms. Uzma, Director BBSHRRDB; Dr. Imran Batada, Director CIT and CTO IoBM; Dr. Shujaat Mubarik, Dean CBM, BBSHRRDB Team and IoBM management. At the Project Symposium the students presented their projects before the industry experts and professionals.

UCP organised a community well-being camp

Lahore, June 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Psychology, University of Central Punjab Lahore, organised a community well-being camp at the Cantonment General Hospital on 28t May 2022. Dr Shazia Hasan, Ms Momina Nayyer, Ms Pakeeza Haider Qasmi and Ms Ifra Mahmood were the community well-being camp organisers. The camp’s purpose was to provide awareness and help to the community with their mental health issues and to make suitable referrals. The community well-being camp incorporates the social, mental, emotional, cultural, and spiritual determinants of health.

The well-being of an individual includes coping with the various stresses of everyday living and realisation of the full potential of an individual as a productive member of society. MS Clinical Psychology (Bushra Khan, Fatima Hanif, Aqsa Malik, Khushbakht Pari, Muhammad Sohail and Sehar Waheed) and PhD Psychology (Sana Majeed) students administered a variety of measures to assess children and adults, including the emotional quotient, intelligence, aggression, self-compassion, anxiety, depression, behavioural addiction, stress, and self-efficacy. 23 clients, including 7children and 16 adults, were assessed in the community well-being camp. In addition, Psychoeducation and counselling were provided to the parents and patients.

Dr Shazia Hassan, Head of the Psychology Department, inaugurated the Well Being Camp. The findings of the tests were immediately communicated with adults and children’s informants to raise awareness and educate them about their mental health. Other members of the faculty visited the camp as well. The event facilitated its goal by encouraging the development of life skills that allow people, families, and communities to better understand and engage with their surroundings and lead healthy lifestyles.
