Women Development Centre the IUB organized a seminar on violence 

Bahawalpur, December 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):United Nations observe 16 days of activism against gender-based violence very year from 25 November to 10 December. In this regard, Women Development Centre the Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized a seminar on violence against women in collaboration with Pakistan Rural Workers Welfare Organization PRWASO.

This program was presided by worthy vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob. Dean Faculty of arts Prof. Dr. Rubina Shaheen Sahiba director women Development Centre, Prof Dr. Yasmin Roofi, Director PRWASO, Mr. Sabir Farhat and President PRWADO miss Yasmin Muslim also participated in this seminar. Speakers were Miss Munazza Button from Women protection authority Multan and Moazzana Hussain, women right activists. Speakers and participants emphasized to promote strategies to end violence against women.

World Soil Day 2021 celebrated at IUB 

Bahawalpur, December 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):On the occasion of World Soil Day, a special event was organized at the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Registrar Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil, Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal and Syndicate Member Sumira Malik were present on the occasion. Dr. Moazzam Jamil said that World Soil Day is celebrated on December 5 to raise awareness about the importance of soil for the survival of life on earth. Soil quality is declining which is causing environmental problems.

This day is celebrated to draw people’s attention to healthy soil. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, said that the theme of this year was to halt soil salivation, enhance soil production. Dr. Maqshoof Ahmad said that more than 300 posters were prepared by the students on the occasion and they participated in the awareness walk. Director Student Affairs Rizwan Majeed, faculty members Dr. Azhar Hussain, Dr. Zaffar Malik, Dr. Ghulam Hassan Abbasi, Dr. Asaad Bashir, Dr. Fakhar-u-Zaman Akhtar, Miss Bushra, Dr. Abubakar Dar and students were also present on the occasion.

Indus Hospital and Health Network helps persons with Disabilities to participate toward an Inclusive, Accessible and Sustainable World 

Karachi, December 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):Physically-disabled patients exhibited their empowerment with assertive devices on December 4, 2021, at The Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities. December 3 is observed as International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) worldwide. The theme for IDPD this year was “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.” The day aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities and raise awareness of the persons with disabilities.

The event started with a walk from the TB Clinic to the Mariyam Bashir Dawood Courtyard. Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, Chief Executive Officer, Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN), Dr. Amin Chinoy, Executive Director, Physical Rehabilitation Directorate, and patients participated in the walk. Dr. Mansoor Ali Khan, Chair, Surgical Services, was also present. Imran Latif Khan, Physical Rehabilitation Team Leader from the International Committee of the Red Cross, was the guest.

Dr. Bari spoke words of encouragement to the patients who had overcome all odds, who despite their disabilities, were excelling in their fields. The patients also shared their stories of how their lives had changed after receiving treatment at the Physical Rehabilitation Center. At the end of the event, there was a gift and certificate distribution ceremony.

Indus Hospital and Health Network, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Chal Foundation, started a rehabilitation program at The Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus in 2015 through a Physical Rehabilitation Center (PRC). IHHN is providing Physical therapy, Prosthetic and Orthotic devices, Psychological Therapy, and Speech and Audiology services through PRCs in Karachi, Lahore, Muzaffargarh, and Badin.

The Rehabilitation Department provides services and devices to all registered patients. These services are provided to upper and lower limb amputees, polio, cerebral palsy, and stroke patients, and children with congenital disabilities like cerebral palsy and clubfeet. More than 70% of patients completed their physiotherapy intervention and improved symptoms and quality of life. During 2020-21, 20,878 patients registered at the PRCs, and 3,006 devices were provided.

Health Screening Camp by Alkhidmat Sindh

A quarter (24%) of Pakistanis say that they snore; higher figures observed for old (51%) respondents and males (25%): Gallup and Gilani Pakistan 

Islamabad, December 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, a quarter (24%) of Pakistanis say that they snore; higher figures observed for old (51%) respondents and males (25%).

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “Do you snore?” In response to this question, 24% said yes, 63% said no and 9% said don’t know. 4% provided no response.
