93rd Birthday of Hazrat Pir Shah Mardan Shah Celebrated at SALU 

Khairpur, November 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):The 93rd Birthday of Hazrat Pir Shah Mardan Shah (II) Pir Pagara was celebrated at Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur organized by Rozay Dhani Chair in collaboration with Sooriah Badshah Panel of Employees. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur was the Chief Guest on this occasion.

Talking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said the personality of Hazrat Shah Mardan Shah was multidimensional. He was a spiritual and political leader of his time. He possessed excellent knowledge about society, history, philosophy, arstology and other multi disciplines. He was lover of books. It is glaring example that a marvellous library was established at Dargah Pir Jo Goth. Dr. Ibupoto said Dargahs remained the cradle of tolerance and peace. With the sense of ownership and determination we could work effectively and assertively work for the soft image building of our university.

The Vice Chancellor directed Incharge Director Rozay Dhani Chair to propose a Board of Directors order to streamline working of the Chair. Mr. Muhammad Hassan Shaikh, Incharge Director, Rozay Dhani Chair briefed the Vice Chancellor that Rozay Dhani Chair was established in the year 2005, since its establishment 7 books have been published including famous Hur Movement which the devotees (Hurs) of Pirs fought against British Imperialism. He revealed 3 books are under publication.

We have provided source material to 2 M. Phil and 1 Ph. D Scholars embarking research on Hur Movement and different topics related to Pagara Family. Mr. Shaikh said we have conducted series of conferences and extension lectures on the life and struggle of Prgara clan. Religious, social and political services of Pir Sahab Pagara will be remembered in the annal of history.

At the end Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto along with Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Mr. Mureed Hussain Ibupoto, Registrar, Mr. Nisar Ahmed Noonari, Director Finance, Mr. Qalandar Bux Bozdar President Employees Welfare Association, Mr. Muhammad Aslam Ghumro, General Secretary and others performed cake cutting ceremony. A large number of employees attended the ceremony.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Raziq, Registrar University of Loralai, an expert member chaired the meeting. Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Economics and Business Administration Dr. Waseem Barket, faculty members, Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Dr. Riaz Ahmed, and Dr. Idress Waris attended the meeting. Besides discussing and resolving various academic matters, the esteemed forum also unanimously approved the MBA and Ph.D. programs and their curriculum and contents.

University of Turbat organizes World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Day

Turbat, November 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):The World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Day was organized at the University of Turbat (UoT) on 26th November 2021. The UoT’s Department of Natural and Basic Science hosted the event. The UoT’s vice-chancellor, prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad graced the occasion as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the vice-chancellor said that besides promoting quality education and research activities, the University of Turbat was also committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities for the betterment of society in general and its students in particular. He lauded the efforts of the students and faculty members of the Natural and Basic Science Department for organizing World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Day at the University of Turbat.

Highlighting the importance and purpose of the event, Chairperson Department of Natural and Basic Science, Dr. Rooh Ullah said that “World Antimicrobial Awareness Week is celebrated from 18-24 November every year and the aim of organizing this week at global level was to create awareness regarding antimicrobial and to encourage the best practices among the general public, health workers and policymakers in order to avoid the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.

He emphasized improving understanding of antimicrobial resistance through effective communication, education, and training workshops at the mass level. A poster-making competition on the theme of the week was also held on this occasion. The Yasir’s group from the BS 6th semester secured the first position while Mahnaz Kareem’s group from BS 8th semester and Jawairia Faqeer’s group from BS 4th semester shared the second position in the competition. The third position was secured by the Liga’s group from BS 4th semester. Congratulating the position holders, the vice-chancellor, and faculty members exalted the creativity of students participating in the competition. The event was attended by the faculty members and students of the university.

Two faculty members of University of Turbat to serve as Visiting Scientist in Turkey

Turbat, November 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):The two faculty members from the University of Turbat (UoT) have been selected to serve as Visiting scientists at the universities and institutes of Turkey in order to carry out academic and R and D activities during the academic period 2022-23.

Dr. Naeemullah, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Rooh Ullah, Assistant Professor, Department of Natural and Basic Science, UoT will work on two separate joint projects with Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tuzen of Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University, Turkey as a host scientist in Turkey. The joint projects will be sponsored by the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) under “2221-Visiting Scientists Fellowship Program 2021”.

The research scholars/scientists of both universities will work on two different joint projects titled “Development of Smart Miniaturized extraction Methods as a Green Alternative tool for the Removal of Different Types of Pollutants from Different environmental Samples” and “Development of Biosensor Based on Metal Chitosan Nanocomposite for Hazardous Materials Detection and as a Green Alternative Approach for the Removal of Different Types of Pollutants”.

The main objective of these projects is to develop and use smart miniaturized green extraction / separation methods as an alternative to the classical ones for the removal of different types of toxic pollutants from different environmental samples and to develop chitosan nanocomposite based biosensor detection materials for these toxic pollutants.

Congratulating Dr. Naeem Ullah and Dr. Rooh Ullah for being selected as Visiting Scientist in Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University, Turkey, the UoT’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad said that these joint projects would help in promoting scientific and technological collaboration between Turkey and Pakistan in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities. The vice-chancellor anticipated that besides bringing about a milestone in the field of separation science and biosensor detection materials, such joint projects would open new vistas of collaboration between the University of Turbat and universities in Turkey.
