All Pakistan Inter-University Volley Ball Zone-H (Boys) Championship 2021-22 inaugurated 

Khairpur, November 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):The All Pakistan Inter-University Volley Ball Zone-H (Boys) Championship 2021-22 organized by the Sports Section, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in collaboration with Higher Education Commission inaugurated at Syed Qaim Ali Shah Indoor Sports Complex of University. Prof. Dr. Khalil. Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur inaugurated the Championship while Prof. Dr. Syed Madad Ali Shah, Vice Chancellor, Benazir Bhutto University of Technology (BBSUTSD), Khairpur was the Chie Guest and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Keerio, Principal, Govt. Agriculture College, Khairpur was the Guest of Honour.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said sport is as old as humanity itself. It’s kept societies fit, healthy and assertive. It builds strong communities, cooperation, understanding and boosting morale. Dr. Ibupoto remarked that in this digital age and modern world of iPhones and laptops, the importance of sports is more relevant and concerned. Competitive physical exercise not only motivates youth to get outside and keeps them fit, but it also promotes the important values of tolerance and passions.

Prof. Dr. Syed Madad Ali Shah said that sports activities are integral part of life the co-curricular activities at campuses. Such activities create a healthy society. The social evils could be eradicated with the help of sports activism. Dr. Shah appreciated the untiring efforts of Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for promoting the sports culture at the campus.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Keerio said Higher Education Commission, Islamabad is committed to promote the sports culture at the campuses. Sports culture may be promoted at college level also so the best teams and players may be produced for the country. Dr. Syed Baqir Ali Shah, Chairman Sports Section welcomed the guests and participants. He said we are striving to provide better and possible sports facilities to our students.

Mr. Muhammad Murad Pirzada, Director Physical Education accorded vote of thanks to Vice Chancellor and Higher Education Commission, Islamabad for organizing this event at this University. It is recalled that the teams from Sufi University, Bhitt Shah, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, Sukkur IBA University, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro and host Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur are participating in this championship.

A large number of teachers and students witnessed the ceremony. In today’s matches, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam beat Sufi University, Bhitt Shah by 3-0 and Sukkur IBA University beat Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro by 3-0.

The University of Chitral and Youth Empowerment Program of the Helping Hand Relief and Development jointly organized a session for the faculty members of the University on 10th November 2021 with the theme “Holy Prophet (S.A.W) as a Great and Noble Teacher”

Chitral, November 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):The University of Chitral and Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) of the Helping Hand Relief and Development (HHRD) jointly organized a session for the faculty members of the University on 10th November 2021 with the theme “Holy Prophet (S.A.W) as a Great and Noble Teacher”. Vice-Chancellor University of Chitral Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah chaired the session. In his address, the Chair mentioned that our holy prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) was sent as a universal Nobel Teacher for all human beings. He quoted from the Holy Qura’an that in the life of the Prophet there is the best example for mankind, he also quoted the Hadith “I have been sent as a teacher”. He emphasized that the teachers should embody their lives as role-model for their students.

As keynote speaker of the session, Moulana Muhammad Naqeeb Ullah Razi elaborated the theme of the event quoting practical examples from the life of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). He said teaching is a noble profession and its sanctity warrants due regard from all stakeholders. The session ended with the distribution of shields by the HHRD to high-achieving teachers including Moulana Muhammad Naqib Ullah Razi for achieving the Presidential Award last year and Mr. Javaid Farooqi of Zoology Department for securing Full-Bright Scholarship for higher studies and the teachers of the Sociology Department for organizing a successful event. The Vice-Chancellor thanked the HHRD and Sociology Department for organizing the event and assure his support and facilitation for such endeavours in the future as well.

US Consul General, Mr. Mark Stroh, visits Habib University

Karachi, November 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):The newly appointed US Consul General to Karachi, Mr. Mark Stroh, paid a maiden visit to Habib University on November 5, 2021. The US Consul General was accompanied by Deputy Cultural Affairs Officer, Keome Rowe, Deputy Consul General, Matthew Ference, and Cultural Affairs Officer, John Rhatigan, and was received by President Wasif Rizvi and Dr. Aamir Hasan, Interim Vice President Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty.

Mr. Mark Stroh assumed role as US Consul General in August and is a career member of the United States Senior Foreign Service. He has most recently served in Washington, D.C as the Managing Director for International Media in the Bureau of Global Public Affairs. He was Executive Secretariat Staff in Washington and a Director for Strategic Communications and Assistant Press Secretary and Deputy Spokesman of the National Security Council. He has also served as acting director of the Press Office in the Bureau of Public Affairs and worked as a journalist for a number of publications.

Upon his arrival, Mr. Mark Stroh was taken to the Yohsin Wall, located near the main entrance of the University. The Wall displays the motto of Habib University, Yohsin, which translates to thoughtful self-cultivation, which is further broken down into five components – excellence, passion, respect, beauty and service. He was told how students are encouraged to ingrain each of these traits into everything they do while at university and beyond.

During the tour, Mr. Mark Stroh was shown the scale model of the state-of-the-art campus located near the entrance. President Rizvi explained how the award winning architectural design of the campus catered to the low height requirements of the nearby airport and maximized students’ learning experience.

At the Wall of Mohsineen, which honours the founding community and donors of Habib University, President Rizvi pointed out that Habib University was in collaboration with some of the leading universities in the United States such as University of California, Berkeley, University of Michigan and Texas A and M and had introduced the liberal arts and sciences model of higher education to Pakistan.

The tour of the main campus included stops at the student center, the library, recreational facilities and Habib’s own green space, the Zen Garden. During the official briefing, Mr. Mark Stroh was briefed about how Habib University is a one-of-its-kind community owned institution, which enjoyed support locally as well as from the Pakistani diaspora in Houston. He was apprised of the University’s mission of providing high-merit students irrespective of their socio-economic or educational backgrounds access to a world-class education.

Mr. Mark Stroh was appreciative of Habib’s efforts while stressing the importance of an interdisciplinary approach and the need for liberal arts education in a developing country such as Pakistan. Towards the end of the visit, the US Consul General and his delegation were thanked for coming to the university to better understand its philosophy and mission.

Big screens installed for cricket semi-final at Male and Female campuses 

Islamabad, November 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):International Islamic university (IIU) installed big screens at the male female campuses to display the Semi-final match of ICC T20 World Cup between Pakistan and Australia. The activity on the male side was jointly organized by Provost (male) office and Office of the Protocol and Public Relations at the hostels’ lawn. On female side, it was organized by Directorate of Student Affairs (female Campus) at Gymnasium.

The enthralled audience was also joined by Vice President Administration and Finance, Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani, Vice President Academics Prof. Dr. Ayaz Afsar along with Provost (male) Dr. Abrar Anver, Incharge P and PR Nasir Farid and other relevant officers.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. N. B. Jumani lauded the patriotic environment at the venue and vowed that the university shall not leave a single stone unturned to facilitate the students. He said that provision of ideal living and learning environment is top priority of university management.

On the female side, the activity was joined by Students Adviser (Female) Dr. Summiya Chughtai, Provost (Female) Dr. Humaira Ashfaq and other Officers of the campus. The students were joyous and charged to support the green shirts where they also kept chanting slogans for the country. The activity on both sides of the campuses was hailed by the student community and thanked the administration for arranging the big screens.
