President Alkhidmat’s Name Listed in 100 Best Performing CEOs 

Lahore, October 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Muhammad Abdus Shakoor President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan is among the 100 best-performing CEOs in Pakistan, according to the latest book launched by CEO Club Pakistan. This book was launched on Oct. 13, 2021 in Serena Hotel Islamabad, where a large number of CEOs from all around Pakistan were gathered in the program. Federal ministers Umer Ayub and Fawad Chaudhry were the chief guests in the ceremony.

Akeal Hosein approved as replacement for Fabian Allen in West Indies squad

Dubai, October 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 has approved Akeal Hosein as a replacement for Fabian Allen in the West Indies squad.

Left-arm spinner Hosein, who has played nine ODIs and six T20Is, was named as a replacement after Allen was ruled out due to an ankle injury. Hosein was a reserve as per the allowance for teams to travel with extra players in view of COVID-19 quarantine requirements.

The replacement for Hosein in the reserves list will be the uncapped Gudakesh Motie. The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 consists of Chris Tetley (Head of Events, Chair), Clive Hitchcock (ICC Senior Cricket Operations Manager), Rahul Dravid and Dhiraj Malhotra (BCCI Representatives), Simon Doull and Ian Bishop (Independent Members).

IIUI remembers Martyrs of Twin Blasts 

Islamabad, October 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):International Islamic University leadership has paid rich tributes to the martyrs of twin blasts which had resulted in loss of lives of 9 people an 11 years ago on October 20th, 2009. Recalling the incident, IIUI Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi said IIUI will always remember the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in that sad incident. In the message, they said that the blast victims will remain in their hearts and memories. They furthered “We had lost precious innocent lives of our students and workers, all dying a martyr’s death”.

On the 20th of October, 2009, the International Islamic University Islamabad, H-10 Campus was struck by two separate bomb blasts. The bombings resulted in loss of 9 lives including 8 students and a security guard of the university. The incident had also left more than 30 people injured.

IIUI placed among Top 200 Universities in Times Higher Education Emerging Economies Varsities Ranking

Islamabad, October 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has been placed in Top 200 Universities in the Times Higher Education Emerging Economies Universities Ranking 2022. According to recent results, overall there are 698 universities in the ranking this year and 50 territories of emerging economies are represented. International Islamic University has been ranked as 179, while only three universities from Pakistan including International Islamic University, Quaid-e-Azam University and Abdul Wali Khan University out of 21 ranked to make the top 200 slot.

The university leadership believes that upcoming ranking will be much more positive as new reforms and initiatives have entered into the mature stages through various steps taken such as implementation of the university’s strategic plan and academic audits. The university is now all set and in a better position to submit its accomplishments and achievements with an approach of quantifiable analysis that will lead to improved and realistic university rankings in future. The university has also started a comprehensive work on research and enterprise that shall also be helpful in improved ranking through linkage with industry, acceptance of international funded projects, collaborations in research and global engagements.

Commenting on the ranking, IIUI Rector, Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai has said that recognition of IIUI in the world ranking is a good sign and it is an omen of the university’s new journey to success. He urged that universities must come forward to serve the society “We will not disappoint the nation, we will come forward with positive developments soon in the field of academic excellence and quality higher education” said Masoom Dr Yasinzai.

IIUI President, Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, expressing gratitude for the achievement congratulated the academic and administrative staff of the institution and hoped that they would remain committed to the university in the future by continuing their hard work so that the institution gets the top slot in all world rankings in the future. He said that this ranking is a sign of a new dawn of success for IIUI.

Meanwhile, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) was placed in 601-800 position by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. In addition, out of 21 universities across the country, IIUI has been ranked on 2nd position in terms of performance for the year 2022. International Islamic University is also on the top among Five more universities of Pakistan that have secured a spot, for the first time in the world’s top 800.

IIUI’s Vice President Research and Enterprise, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed who has been supervising the university’s impact in international rankings, told that THE rankings 2022 include 1662 Universities worldwide drawn from 90 countries. The recent positive results generated by IIUI are outcome of continued reforms and initiatives introduced by the university management that includes preparation of university’s new strategic plan that also helped in gleaning exact view of the university accomplishments on scientific basis, said Dr. Ahmed Shuja.

Universities were evaluated on five ranking pillars including teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook. In its annual publication of university rankings, Times Higher Education, notes that Pakistan has emerged as the world’s fastest improving nation on its metrics of teaching, research, citation, industry income and international outlook. These results, Times claims, were generated after reviewing 108 million citations and 430,000 data-points from participating institutions from all over the world. Following is the summary of IIUI’s achievements:

IIU has improved its ranking by 200 positions since the last ranking in 2020 from 801-1000 category to 601-800 category out of 1662 total universities ranked worldwide

Stood second out of 21 universities of Pakistan, second only to Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad

IIU has scored highest sum of score in THE-Pillars in Five New Universities added in 601-800 category

IIU has stood on first position in International Outlook out of 21 universities of Pakistan.

IIUI ranked as 301-400in World Universities Subject Rankings of Physical Sciences. This is over 300 places up in the Physical Science Subjects since the THE subject rankings in 2020.

IIUI ranked as 301-400 in World Universities Subject Rankings of Computer Science, sharing the second position with NUST with Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad as first in Pakistan. IIUI is first in Pakistan in terms of “citations” in this discipline. IIUI applied for this discipline to be ranked for the first time.

IIUI ranked as 401-500 in World Universities Subject Rankings of Engineering. This is 100 places better in the relevant subject rankings since the THE Engineering rankings in 2020. IIUI shared the second place among the Pakistani universities in this discipline with Agricultural University, Faisalabad, COMSATS University and University of Lahore.

Earlier, International Islamic University was also ranked among top 351-400 in the QS-Asia-World-University-Rankings for the year 2021.The recent positive results generated by IIUI are outcome of continued reforms and initiatives introduced by the university management that includes preparation of university’s new strategic plan that also helped in gleaning exact view of the university accomplishments on scientific basis.

We believe that future rankings will be much better as new reforms and initiatives have entered into the mature stages through various steps taken. The university has also started a comprehensive work on research and enterprise that shall also be helpful in improved rankings through linkage with industry, acceptance of international funded projects, collaborations in research and global engagements.
