Fourth Annual Workshop on “The Philosophy and Techniques for Quantitative Research”

The Department of Economics, Fatima Jinnah Women University is organizing its fourth Annual Workshop on ‘The Philosophy and Techniques for Quantitative Research’ virtually on November 29-December 1, 2021, in collaboration with Applied Economics Research Centre, University of Karachi. The workshop is a joint venture of two institutions as part of understanding for mutual cooperation in research and capacity development.

This workshop will orient the participants with the knowledge of statistical soft wares with illuminating lectures and hand-on training and will provide them the opportunity for collaboration and networking with the peers and experts in the field. The workshop is especially useful for research students, faculty, staff and practitioners.

Kotli, October 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir organized Online Condolence Reference to pay homage to Syed Ali Shah Gillani, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan and Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan. Keynote Speakers were Sardar Masood Khan (Former President/Chancellor Public Sector Universities of AJ and K), Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmed (Founder Vice Chancellor, Riphah International University Islamabad), Prof. Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi (Vice Chancellor, University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir), Prof. Dr. Kaleem Abbasi (Vice Chancellor, University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muzaffarabad), Mr. Ershad Mehmud (Senior Journalist/Analyst) and others.

Speakers paid glowing tribute of these iconic personalities and greatly acknowledged their long-life services. They mentioned that these personalities stand taller than any tribute and their services will always keep them alive in the hearts of people. The condolence reference ended with Fateha for the departed souls.

Department of Biotechnology WIN funded project by British Council on “Textile solid waste chemical recycling via hydro-catalytic route”

Lahore, October 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):We are excited to share that Department of Biotechnology, QU has won their first ever funded project by British Council in collaboration with University of Northumbria, Newcastle and University of Aberdeen, UK.

The project titled “Textile solid waste chemical recycling via hydro-catalytic route”, Co-PI Dr Anam Munawar, has the prize value of £ 7,000 which will be split among University of Aberdeen and Qarshi University. We congratulate the Department of Biotechnology for this achievement, since the inception of Department in 2019, its faculty is striving hard to make an impact in research.

Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Project Phase III

Scholarships are offered for:

Newly admitted students of fall 2021 session in HEC recognized Public Sector University

Students fulfilling criteria of need and provide authentic information required under the Project’s policy.

Admissions secured on merit only. Merit means that the student has fulfilled the admission criteria of the institution in which he/she intends to study.

Degree programs allowed by the HEC.

Age limit set by institution’s regulations, i.e. the maximum age of the eligibility for the scholarship is the same as the maximum age for applying for admission in undergraduate programs at the HEI.

Ineligibility Conditions:

Student of 2nd, 3rd and above semesters are not eligible.

Availing any other scholarship or continuous grant.

Enrolled in distant learning programs and affiliated colleges (both public/private).

Secured admission on self-sustain/ self-support/ self-finance basis, or in evening programs with higher fee structures.

Two years associate degree programs and the nomenclature of BA/BSc programs are excluded.

If income of guardian is above Rs. 45,000/- then such student is ineligible.

Procedure

Form is online, link is https://ehsaas.hec.gov.pk/

After submission online in HEC the hard form must be submitted in office of Student Financial Aid, University of Haripur.

In case if any student applies online and does not submit hard form in Student Financial Aid Office, then such students will not be entertained for interview.

Last date is 30-11-2021.

Important Notice for Students for fall 2021

Dear University Students,

I hope you all are doing well and getting ready to start the fall semester on 1st November.

Fall 2021 Fully in Person:

Recently we have received a notification from NCOC, so I am writing to let you know that we will be launching the fall 2021 semester fully in person. We will not have online classes or blended classes. If you cannot attend classes in person you are encouraged to apply for Semester withdrawal through the Academic Services Office. In that case, drop all your fall courses and plan to join the university in spring 2022.

Add and Drop:

Remember that there is no add and drop week once classes start on Nov. 1. Currently add and drop is open from 11th Oct to 29th Oct. The classes will be starting from the first day of semester. The faculty will start marking your attendance from day 1. Oct. 29th is the LAST day to register for courses. You cannot add or drop courses during the first week of classes. To help you make informed decisions about your courses, faculty have created course trailers and are making their course outlines/syllabi available during Add/Drop.

Vaccination:

Please make sure that you get vaccinated for access to campus. You need at least one dose before 1st November. In the first week of November, we will be communicating regarding collecting your vaccination certificates. By the end of November, you need to have received the second dose. Once back on campus, remember to follow the COVID SOPs, wear a mask on campus. Keep social distance and wash your hands regularly.

Hostel Residence:

Hostel students can come back to the hostel on 31st Oct. If you need hostel space, please contact FCC Hostels (hostels@fccollege.edu.pk). We have limited space available, and space is allocated ‘on a first come, first serve basis’.

Student Academic Services:

All student academic services will be provided through the student windows or you can contact the concerned office through email. Zoom meetings can also be requested.
