The 14th China (Dongying) International Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment & Technology Exhibition comes to a successful conclusion

DONGYING, China, Sept. 30, 2021 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– The 3-day 14th China (Dongying) International Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment & Technology Exhibition held in Dongying, Shandong province came to a successful conclusion on September 29.

The 14th China (Dongying) International Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment & Technology Exhibition kicked off on September 27.

The Information Office of the People’s Government of Dongying explained that the theme of this exhibition was A Connected World Driven by Innovation.

Reached agreements totaled 4.16 billion yuan and 262 foreign and 297 domestic trade contracts (intention agreements) were signed during the event. More than1,300 exhibitors were attracted by this immersive cloud exhibition, demonstrating in excess of 17,000 products covering 18 categories. These included oil drilling equipment, exploration equipment, and collection and transmission equipment. The total number of visits was over 270,000.

With the new and comprehensive online cloud exhibition platform, full use was made of cloud display, cloud diversion, cloud interaction, and cloud negotiation, taking the exhibition level and the standard of service to new heights. 1st Conference on Sustainable Water Resource Management

Lahore, September 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering (CEWRE), University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore organized one day 1st Conference on “Sustainable Water Resources Management”. The conference was graced by Minister of Irrigation, Punjab, Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari as a Chief Guest. The conference was attended by the participant from forty-nine different institutions and organizations from Pakistan. Director CEWRE Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad Khan inaugurated the conference by welcoming the participants and highlighted the main themes.

During opening speech by chief guest, Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari emphasized the role of educational institutes and utilization of modern techniques for sustainable water management. Keynote speaker Dean Faculty of Civil Engineering Prof. Dr. Habib-Ur-Rehman highlighted the importance of sustainable aquifer management through recharging techniques. Ex GM, WAPDA Engr. Shahid Hameed highlighted the role of WAPDA in efficient water resources development of Pakistan and future plans for Hydropower and water conservation projects.

Country Representative IWMI Pakistan Dr. Mohsin Hafeez discussed the issues and challenges of Indus River and emphasis on the installation of monitoring systems. Chairman PCRWR Pakistan Dr. Muhammad Ashraf and Ex-DG Water Management Engr. Mushtaq Ahmad Gill expressed their views about sustainable water resources management. In three technical sessions, eighteen technical papers were presented with focus on climate change impact assessment, soil erosion and hydraulics and agriculture water management.

The participation was from various national organization/institutes including University of Lahore, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences, UET Taxila, National Engineering Services Pakistan, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, COMSATS University, University of Punjab, Lahore apart from Centre of excellence in Water Resources Engineering. In concluding session Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad Khan appreciated the organizing team of the conference especially Dr. Kaleem Sarwar, Dr. Ijaz Ahmad, Engr. Faraz ul Haq and Engr. Muhammad Awais Zafar.

ORIC Holds PhD Alumni Get Together of Faculty of Engineering

Islamabad, September 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):The inaugural PhD Alumni Get-Together of Faculty of Engineering was held on Thursday, 23rd September 2021 by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at 04 PM in Conference Room, F-Block, and CUST.

The event was a preliminary effort to initiate strong relations/liaison with CUST PhD graduates as per vision of Vice Chancellor CUST. The event was advertised through “Official CUST PhD Alumni Group”, Emails and Texts. Following advertisement, the graduates were personally invited on phone. A total of 22 persons attended the get-together.

The ceremony was graced by Honourable Vice Chancellor, CUST, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Ahmed. Dean Research and Innovation, Prof. Aamer Iqbal Bhatti, Dean Faculty of Computing, Prof. Muhammad Abdul Qadir, HoD Electrical Engineering, Prof. Noor Muhammad Khan and HoD Civil Engineering, Prof. Ishtiaq Hassan were also present at the occasion. The event started with the welcome note of Dean Research and Innovation followed by brief talk of Vice chancellor CUST.

In his address Vice Chancellor welcomed and acknowledged the participants for visiting CUST. He discoursed the importance of such meetups/liaison in context of strong academia-alumni relationship. Dean FoC and HoD EE also paid welcoming tributes to the members.

Following welcome notes, the alumni members were asked to share their current workplace/designations and their views/feedback regarding CUST. The forum was then opened for general discussion. The Vice Chancellor was pleased to know the professional excellence and accomplishments of the members. He ensured that the doors of CUST are open for its graduates for any sort of support/problems.

This was followed by Alumni Cards distribution and high tea refreshment. The ceremony concluded with acknowledging remarks of Dean Research and Innovation. He appreciated the endeavours and professional growth of alumni and ensured to arrange such type of meetups on continual basis.
