Quota of GB doctors should not be abolished: Former CM

Karachi, October 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):Leader of the Pakistan People’s Party and former Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Syed Mehdi Shah on Sunday said the quota of GB doctors in federal government hospitals should not be abolished as it will be unfortunate. He said that many doctors from GB are employed in the federal hospitals, various are getting postgraduate training while a lot are getting training for nursing, paramedical sciences, and physiotherapy etc.

Talking to a delegation of doctors, he said that there is no medical college in GB and arrangement for imparting postgraduate training will take years therefore doctors and students from GB should be allowed to get employment and training in federally-run hospitals including Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC).

Medhi Shah said that doctors and students of underdeveloped areas should not be deprived of opportunities but they should be given more privileges which is necessary to develop the social fabric of remote areas. He said that the authorities in Sindh should think sympathetically about the future of people representing far-flung areas and provide them the opportunity to shine in their respective fields for which we will be highly thankful.

Puppet PM Imran Khan conspiring to convert media and institutions into his personal Tiger Force but PPP won’t allow him to succeed: Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, October 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that every Pakistani is aware that the next government will be formed by the PPP. “I promise that we will increase salaries and pensions, and provide employment to the youth of this country on the very first day we assume power,” he added.

While addressing a mammoth public meeting on the occasion of 14th anniversary of the Karsaz carnage, Chairman PPP paid glowing tribute to the martyrs. The tragedy took place in 2007, when Pakistan’s most popular leader, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, returned home from exile, where three millions of people were on the streets of Karachi to welcome their leader, and as result of the suicide bombings, the scene was red with the blood of the Jiyalas (diehard workers).

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari questioned that is there any other example in the history of the world of courage and bravery like Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto? “Ignoring the threat of being killed by a dictator and terrorists, she returned to Pakistan to fight against Musharraf and terrorists, and to participate in general elections in a bid to get rid of dictatorship”, he pointed out.

He said that on the October 18, the whole world came to know that PPP workers get never scared of by the bomb blasts, rather, when such blasts occur, they stand firm to protect their leadership. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had taught them the “poor-friendly policies” to run the economy.

He further said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had always given hope to the youth and the white-color class of the country that they would be rewarded for their hard working. “PPP’s basic philosophy is that we want to ensure Roti, Kapra, Aur Makaan to every Pakistani”, he maintained. He said that Quaid-e-Awam and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto fulfilled such promises.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that if there was inflation in the past then there is inflation today, if there was poverty and unemployment then nowadays there is historical poverty and unemployment, if there was dictatorship yesterday then today it is dictatorship in puppet system. “PPP was nation’s need and we need it even today.”

Criticizing puppet PM Imran Khan, the PPP chairman said that Khan had promised 10 million jobs and 5 million houses but he took U-turn. Today, the people of Karachi are asking Imran Khan where the 10 million jobs and 5 million homes have gone. Imran Khan used to say that when inflation goes up, it means that the Prime Minister is a thief, and today it is highest, never in the history of Pakistan, so according to Imran Khan, the biggest thief is our puppet Prime Minister now. At present electricity, gas and petrol are very expensive. Living is expensive and dying is also expensive, this is Khan Sahib’s new Pakistan, this is not Imran Khan’s change, it is a disaster, Khan Sahib has arranged the destruction of our economy.

The PPP chairman said that the PPP cadres have been protesting against the PTIMF deal since day one and the rate at which poverty, inflation and unemployment are increasing day by day due to the PTIMF deal has made life difficult. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that this is not the slogan of Pakistan Peoples Party but history that when we come in government, we provide employment to the youth of this country.

We cannot promise that all economic conditions will be right in one day, but we can certainly promise that when there is a PPP government, there will be a people-friendly and poor-friendly government. If our people are drowning in inflation then we will stand with our people, we will not snatch jobs on such an occasion, but we will provide jobs to the people, we will not tear down the roof but build houses, we will not eliminate poor but will ameliorate poverty.

The PPP chairman stressed that the people now have to decide their own future, we will not allow anyone else to decide the leadership of this country as only the people of Pakistan have the authority to elect their Prime Minister.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the selected Prime Minister wants to convert media, social media and institutions into his Tiger Force. We will not allow Khan Sahib that while the country is being destroyed and no one is allowed to question you. I warn the puppet PM that your countdown has begun. Now all members of parliament and ticket holders will protest against inflation and unemployment. The PPP’s founding day next month will be celebrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PPP chairman said that this tyrannical government believes in the politics of revenge. President Asif Ali Zardari is repeatedly summoned on false allegations by the NAB. Syed Khurshid Shah, Chaudhry Yasin and others are also in jail, but the PPP has not backed down from its stand. But what a duplicitous system it is that Imran Khan’s cabinet is named in Pandora Leaks, but PPP leaders are in jail despite not being involved in these scandals.

He pledged that PPP would establish an Islamic democratic federal system of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and a people-friendly government of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

Dynastic struggles brought about Caliphate’s decline – NIHCR Webinar on The End of Caliphate and Khilafat Movement in India

Islamabad, October 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Caliphate was one of the oldest Islamic institutions in the history. The Ottoman Caliphate was the last caliphate of the late medieval and early modern era that lasted 13 centuries and was abolished in 1924, opined Prof Emeritus Aslam Syed in a Webinar on Discourse of History on the End of Caliphate and Khilafat Movement in India here on Saturday.

Responding to a question, Prof Syed said that the empire of the Caliphate grew rapidly through conquests during its first two centuries to include most of Southwest Asia, North Africa and Spain. Dynastic struggles later brought about the Caliphate’s decline, he said. The guest speaker Prof Emeritus Aslam Syed has been serving the Center for Religious Studies, Ruhr Universität, Bochum, Germany. He remained Chairman, Department of History, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and also served the NIHCR as its Director.

The Webinar was arranged online by the National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research (NIHCR), Centre of Excellence, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, attended by over 700 participants ranging from students, teachers and researchers to have greater insights into the valuable views of the guest speaker.

Narrating history of Khilafat Movement in India, Prof Syed recalled that the Muslims of India had a great regard for the Khilafat. Thus, Muslims organized a mass movement, which came to be known as Khilafat Movement in order to protect the holy place of Turkey; to restore the territories of Turkey and to restore the Ottoman Empire, he said.

During the discourse, the NIHCR Director Dr Sajid Mahmood Awan was of the view that two Indian brothers, Mohammad Ali Jauhar and Maulana Shaukat Ali, leaders of the Indian-based Khilafat Movement, distributed pamphlets calling upon the Turkish people to preserve the Ottoman Caliphate for the sake of Islam. In 1923, Syed Ameer Ali and Aga Khan III sent a letter to İsmet Pasha Inonu on behalf of the movement.

Supplementing Dr Awan’s observation, Prof Syed said that in 1921, the Ali brothers were arrested on charges of sedition. Mohanchand Karamchand Gandhi suspended the Non-Cooperation movement after the Chauri Chaura incident. He was arrested in 1922. A few months after his arrest, the Caliph or the Sultan of Turkey was deposed of his power due to a revolution led by Mustafa Kemal Pasha. Later on, Turkey moved towards becoming a secular state and the Khilafat issue lost its importance, he said.

The NIHCR Director Dr Sajid Mahmood Awan conducted the Webinar by triggering a dialogue with Dr Syed for substantiating this discourse. This inclusive activity has been taken up every week for the benefit of students in general and capacity-building of the teachers and researchers in particular, he said.
