Larkana, Zahida Solangi, a widow and former employee of Chandka Hospital in Larkana, and her daughter Dua Batul Solangi, are alleging that they have been victims of theft and harassment by family members following the death of Zahida’s husband, Liaquat Ali Solangi, in 2019.
According to Pakistan People’s Party, Zahida Solangi stated that her husband, who was employed as a Patwalo at Chandka Hospital, passed away due to a heart attack, leaving behind a daughter and a son from his first wife. Zahida alleged that her brother-in-law, Nizakat Ali Solangi, along with his son Tawfiq Solangi, and other relatives, forcibly took Rs. 25 lakh from her husband’s retirement funds and have repeatedly extorted money from her.
She further claimed that these relatives broke into her house a month and a half ago, occupied it for gambling activities, and forced her and her daughter to move to her brother Deedar Ali Solangi’s house on Aqil Road. Zahida also accused them of poisoning her husband in an attempt to claim his pension money.
An application to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused was filed in a Larkana court, but it was rejected on December 8. Dua Batul, Zahida’s daughter, is now seeking her late father’s pension money.
The Solangis have appealed to the DIG and SSP of Larkana for action against the accused and for protection. This case highlights issues of inheritance theft and the vulnerability of widows in the face of familial exploitation.
