Lahore, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore recently welcomed a delegation from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Livestock Farmer Welfare Association (LFWA), led by its President M Asif Awan. The delegation met with UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad to discuss collaboration and support for farmers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the meeting, presided over by Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad at the City Campus, focused on UVAS’s ongoing efforts in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for the up-gradation of the livestock sector. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted that these efforts include focused support for farmers in KP, just as in other provinces. He encouraged the delegation to build trust among farmers and to invest in training for small farmers, citing its direct impact on the economy.
Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad also emphasized the vital role that associations like LFWA, in collaboration with the Livestock and Dairy Development (L and DD) Department and educational institutions, can play in supporting the government’s efforts. Deputy Director of the Business Incubation Center, Mr. Qaisar Hussain, was also present at the meeting.
During the visit, President of LFWA M Asif Awan commended the Vice-Chancellor for his engagement with the KP farmers’ representatives and shared the vision and role of the association in enhancing the well-being of farmers in KP. He expressed appreciation for Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad’s contributions to developing the livestock sector and thanked UVAS for its volunteer work in supporting KP farmers during the 2022 floods. Awan also showed a keen interest in forming a collaborative relationship between UVAS and LFWA for the benefit of the farmers’ community.
