UVAS Celebrates Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad’s Tenure with 9th Joint Session Reference

Lahore, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore commemorated the successful completion of Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad’s tenure as Vice-Chancellor with a 9th joint session reference. The event witnessed the participation of a large number of UVAS Syndicate members, Academic Council, Advance Studies and Research Board, Deans, Directors, Chairpersons, and former vice-chancellors.

According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Associate Prof Dr. Irfan-ur-Rehman Khan, Chairman of the Department of Theriogenology, highlighted Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad’s contributions to UVAS during his tenure. He praised Prof Nasim for his role in elevating the university to the top 801-1000 universities globally and ranking 3rd in Punjab’s public sector in the Time Higher Education World University Rankings.

Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad, speaking at the event, expressed gratitude to the UVAS staff and faculty. He attributed the university’s achievements to the collective effort and dedication of the team. He emphasized the establishment of the Training Centre for Biologics Production (TCBP) for foot and mouth disease vaccines and the transformation of the Art Center into a profitable enterprise (Institute of Continue Education and Extension) campus in Lahore. Dr. Ahmad also discussed the significant advancements in academics, research, community work, sectoral development, infrastructure improvement, industrial linkages, and national and international collaborations achieved during his tenure from 2020 to 2024.

Dr. Irfan lauded Prof Nasim’s career achievements, noting his recognition as a Distinguished National Professor (DNP) by HEC and as an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Theriogenology, UVAS. He served in various key positions, including as Pro Vice-Chancellor, Director of ORIC, Dean of Faculties of Veterinary Science and Life Sciences Business Management, Director of Research and External Linkages, and Chairman of the Department of Theriogenology. Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad has been honored with awards such as the ‘Sitara-i-Imtiaz’ Presidential Civil Award, ‘Best University Teacher Award’ by HEC, and ‘PARC Scientist of the Year 1999 Award’. He has authored approximately 95 research publications and supervised 82 MPhil and 12 PhD students.

Prof Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha and Emeritus Professors including Dr. Muhammad Ashraf and Prof Dr. Masood Rabbani also acknowledged Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad’s contribution to the progress of the university and their working relationship with him.
