Lahore: Usman Khan Shinwari, the left-arm fast bowler who represented Pakistan in international cricket, has announced his retirement. Having played one Test, 17 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 16 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) from December 2013 to December 2019, Shinwari steps away from the international scene after a notable career.
Shinwari made his debut for Pakistan in a T20I against Sri Lanka in December 2013, earning him the T20I cap number 58. He later received ODI cap number 216 against the same team in October 2017, and Test cap number 240 in December 2019, also against Sri Lanka. His career included participation in the 2018 ACC Men’s ODI Asia Cup as part of the national squad.
Throughout his international career, the 31-year-old pacer claimed a single wicket in his only Test match. In ODIs, he took 34 wickets, and in T20Is, he secured 13 dismissals. Shinwari delivered some standout performances, notably taking two five-wicket hauls in ODIs against Sri Lanka. In 2017, he achieved figures of 5-34 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, and in 2019, he recorded 5-51 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
The Pakistan Cricket Board released the announcement, marking the end of Shinwari’s international journey.
