Karachi: In an address to new students at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, the institution's Vice Chancellor, emphasized the unique identity and historical significance of the university, urging students to appreciate the opportunity they have received and to respect the legacy of SMIU.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the Vice Chancellor, speaking at the Fall 2026 orientation ceremony, encouraged students to honor their parents' sacrifices, take ownership of the university community, and utilize the opportunities of the 21st century to build meaningful careers. Dr. Sahrai underscored the importance of making informed choices about academic and professional paths, noting that passion and interest in one's field benefit not just the individual, but also their family, the university, the province, and society at large.

Addressing Computer Science students, Dr. Sahrai highlighted the vast opportunities available through technology and the internet, stressing their responsibility in their studies. He remarked on the historic connection between the university and Pakistan's founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who significantly contributed to SMIU. The Vice Chancellor also reminded students of the responsibility to maintain the institution's historic buildings and environment, emphasizing the collective duty of the university community.

Dr. Sahrai concluded by urging students to recognize the sacrifices made by their families for their education and to work diligently, acknowledging that many of their peers do not have access to similar educational opportunities.
