Turbat, In a show of solidarity and support, the Student Volunteer Society at the University of Turbat (UoT) successfully carried out a fundraising campaign to aid the flood victims of Gwadar. The campaign, which ran from February 29th to March 4th, 2024, was spearheaded by Ms. Samina Faqir, a faculty member and the focal person for the society. This initiative was in response to the recent catastrophic floods in Gwadar, which resulted in significant losses to homes, livestock, and infrastructure.
According to University of Turbat, the campaign witnessed substantial contributions from students, faculty members, and administrative staff, demonstrating a united front in the face of adversity. Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, the Vice Chancellor of UoT, praised the efforts of the Student Volunteer Society, highlighting the campaign as evidence of the university community’s commitment to social responsibility and service. The Vice-Chancellor expressed deep appreciation for all contributors who played a vital role in the campaign’s success.
The collected funds were handed over to Hafiz Abdul Baqi, the Senior Vice President of the Friends Welfare Foundation, tasked with the responsibility of utilizing the donations for the rehabilitation and support of the flood-affected residents of Gwadar. This act of generosity and community service further solidifies UoT’s reputation as an institution that not only excels academically but also actively participates in humanitarian efforts.
