Karachi: Habib University hosted its annual Awards Night on June 4, 2026, to honor the graduating Class of 2026 for their accomplishments in academic excellence, leadership, and community service. The event, held at the H.M. Habib Auditorium, featured a performance by the Habib Orchestra from the Center for South Asian Music and was emceed by Sitara Ali and Sakina Zehra.
According to Habib University, the ceremony included addresses from faculty and student representatives, highlighting the students' resilience and readiness to face challenges. Dr. Nauman Naqvi and Dr. Aaron Mulvany delivered speeches, with Dr. Mulvany speaking in Urdu to praise the graduates. Student Representative Naba Imran spoke about the cohort's growth and unity, while Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. M. Shahid Shaikh, addressed the students with a message resonating well with the youth. President Wasif Rizvi reflected on the transformative journey of the students at the university.
Program Directors presented institutional awards, recognizing achievements in various academic programs. Awards for leadership, service, and innovation were also announced by Tatheer Hamdani and Dr. Ishtiyaq Makda. Distinguished Teaching Awards were given to outstanding educators, and the Dean's Medals were awarded to top achievers in the university's schools by Dr. Saleha Raza and Christie Marie Lauder.
The evening concluded with the presentation of the university's highest honors. Raahim Hashmi received a prestigious medal for academic performance and research contributions, while Syed Shaheer Abbas Rizvi was announced as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2026. The event celebrated Habib University's commitment to developing thoughtful leaders equipped with knowledge and values.
