Lahore, The University of the Punjab will host the public defense of Mr. Muhammad Sajjad Babar’s Ph.D. dissertation on Monday, July 1, 2024. Scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, the defense will delve into the impact of Islamic microfinance on poverty alleviation among its beneficiaries.
According to University of the Punjab, Mr. Babar’s dissertation, titled “Islamic Microfinance and Poverty Reduction: A Study of The Beneficiaries of Akhuwat,” evaluates the effectiveness of Islamic microfinance initiatives in enhancing the economic status of its recipients. This research aims to provide a detailed analysis of how faith-based financial models contribute to reducing poverty and improving the livelihoods of underprivileged communities in Pakistan.
The session is anticipated to attract a wide audience including faculty members, M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars, and professionals interested in the intersections of finance, religion, and social welfare. Prof. Dr. Rubina Zakir, the director of the Institute, will oversee the proceedings, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the findings presented.
